Looking for some ideas...

Trying to book a SPLIT stay & I did something silly.

I want to book TWO weeks. First week (11-20 to 11-27) was going to be a value. The Second week (11-27 to 12-04) was going to be a Deluxe.

Keep with me here - SO I couldnt make up my mind about WHICH value to choose...SO....I went ahead and booked the second week - at the deluxe I had decided - Contemporary.

I had originally planned a "room only" reservation but the Travel Agent talked me into buying the dining plan and tickets for the second week.

NOW - I have made up my mind about the VALUE....and if I go to book my FIRST week (at the value) I realize I made an error.

Apparently would have been wise to book the FIRST week FIRST, if you have meal plan and dining involved, because you pay full price for tix the first few days and then the price goes down over your stay.

WHAT WOULD THE EXPERT DISSERS out there do? I was thinking of calling my TA and CANCELING my Dining plan and Tix booked on my second week and then rebooking from the beginning of mystay.

Is this a silly question?

Ok .. I think I'm with you ... you're saying the tickets will be cheaper cause they they will be for 14 days rather then 7. And yes, that's true... the more days, the lower per day.

FYI.. you might save by getting APs .. annual passes. I've heard the break even point is 8 or 9 days. If you got APs, you could get the DDE card (Disney Dining Experience) and save 20% on your meals at TS places.

But anyway, if it's possible to cancel and rebook and get what you want, yes, I would. Saving money is always a good thing... more to spend on what you really want!!

I am not sure if you can do this but can you change your tickets for the second week to just a 1 day pass. then purchase a 14 day no expiry pass from your first weeks reservation. you are only required to have a 1 day pass to qualify for the dining plan.

How much money are you out for doing what you did? What is the total difference?

I agree you should check into the APs. Magic your way tickets and packages only cover up to ten days, so in order to make your two weeks work you will need two packages (if this has changed recently I appoligize, check with Disney to make sure). If it were me I would book room only ressies at the hotels and then buy APs and get the Disney Dining Expirience card. It costs $60 for one card for AP holders and you receive 20% off of almost all TS restaurants and a handful of counter service restaurants. That way you can eat where you want and still get a discount.

Ok, I tried following you :) My question is do you want the dining plan and if so, do you want the dining for the entire stay? If you didn't want the package the second week, then yes you are better setting it up for the first week. Personally, we love the dining plan so we are going down on it. Although, I don't like doing split stay ticket/dining plan package. We're doing a 10 night package since that is the maximum we could book and then just added on the extra nights as a room only reservation.

All very good questions...Thanks for all the responses!!!!!!!

shellybaxter - Thanks for the reminder about the DDE....for some reason I was thinking I had to be a florida resident for this...?!?! I think DDP (dining plan ) supposedly saves 40% cost of meals...but 20% is better than nothing! good point, and I hadnt even considered APs

I wasnt even aware MYW only ran for 10 nights.
My family also loves the dining plan and yes the thought was to have the dining plan for the entire stay....

Cass - I have to do more analysis - but as far as how much money I would be out by doing two packages...I was thinking (but didnt know about the 10 day rule) that I would be out a couple hundred.

I just realized maybe I didn't talk about the dining plan enough. LOL I am so out of it today. You can have it longer than 10 days, but it would require a second package and at least another one day base park pass per person in the party for the second package. We chose not to do a second package because we have some old non expiring park passes plus we plan to take some time off from the parks to relax and look at the resort decorations since we'll be there in Dec. Plus we figure by that time we will be sooooo stuffed from having the dining plan for 10 nights. We'll probably do a lot of CS those last couple days and I know we have Trail's End planned for another one. So it's possible to have packages for the entire stay, but it will require two packages. For us, financially not worth it this trip. I hope you have a great time no matter what you decide. :cheer2:

If you want the dining plan your whole stay, you will need to buy tickets twice. I am sure your TA, will happily make those changes for you. Here are a few choices:

Get a 10 day ticket with 1st package a 1 day with the second (cost per person $340.87) - this means a few no park days

Get a 7 day pass with each package (cost per person $528.24)

Get a 10 day ticket with 1st package & a 1 day with the second; upgrade the 10 day to an AP and save the 1 day for a future trip (cost per person $533.57)

(All tickets assume hopper except 1 day pass)

Hope this helps
