I need help. I currently have reservations at a hotel that would allow us in the park either on the 17-18 or 18-19. I can't decide what to do. I was there last week and it was crowded but didn't bother me. I just can't get a good indication of how crazy the 17th will be. I don't mind the crowds I just don't want to line up the day before. We usually get to the gate around 7am. Is that early enough or am I wasting a day? I really liked the idea of being there on 17th but is it worth it...would you skip it if you had the choice?

If I had small kids I think I would skip it, but if everyone was older I think it would be fun to go in the 17th!

We will be there enjoying the day. I think it will be crowded in the early morning, decent through the day and busy at night. (at least we are hoping :teeth: )

We're planning on being in the park on the 17th, specifically for the anniversary. My H can't make it until the next week, so it will be me, D16, D10 and S5. I really have no idea what to expect as far as crowds, we're not commando types so we're each choosing a ride to go on that day, we're doing the Discover the Magic tour in the morning and have a dinner ADR at Carnation Cafe, the rest of the time will be shows, people watching and whatever we can do that we're willing to wait for. We'll be back for our second DLP day on Monday with my H, so we'll probably focus more on getting rides done that day.

Do you think people will line up the day before like they did for the 50th?

You might also skim though the July 17th Check-In Thread to get a sense of your fellow Dis'er's plans for the 17th. My guess is that July 17th is going to be more busy than the "typical" Friday in July, but hopefully it won't be as crazed as the 24-hour day in May (crazed as in gate closures). I think there will be some guests that line up from the day before (the ones that want to be the first ones in), but hopefully it won't be in the thousands like it was for the 24-hour day. At this point, DLR hasn't said anything about parking (i.e., when the lots will open) or if anything special will be happening on the 17th officially, so it's all still a guessing game.

I would skip the crowds on the 17th personally but it all depends what it means to you.

I'm with you - still trying to decide. We have hotel and dining reservations but I'm worried about long lines to get in. It will be me with my 9 and 7 year old daughters only so we can't to do the line up and wait or stake a place and wait strategy since we can't split up. I really really want to go but I'm just not sure about the logistics...
