My husband and I were at a counter service restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. My husband didn't want to get anything to eat but I was starving, well the restaurant was very crowded, he went on a ride and I went to get a salad, I finally found a table. So, I'm eating my salad and a woman sits down right across from me (at my table that I was eating at). She asked if I was leaving and I said yes shortly, I still had about 10 bites left from my salad. So, she's sitting there watching me eat, and I'm getting more and more annoyed with her. So, I finally said, excuse me but I'm still eating, so she said, "Oh, I'm sorry, but I'm waiting for my husband. :confused3:confused3 She didn't move or anything, she just kept sitting there. I can not stand to eat in front of people and it was just bothering me so I'm eating faster just to get out of there. But, I finally said that she was very rude to sit at my table while I was eating. Now, if she would have said, "do you mind if I sit at your table while my husband gets food,?" , I wouldn't have not cared, but she didn't. She just sat herself down and that was that. Was I out of line?

Thanks for your input because I didn't know what to do I was so mad! LOL!

Take care. Brunette

What ever happened to good old fashioned hovering? :confused3

I think it was totally fine what you did. That is rude. Especially since she did not ask.

Not only would I have said that, I would have added, "you could move! D'ya mind? I'm eating here--when I'm finished, I'll signal you and you can have my table, but right now, I'm busy and guess what? I'm waiting for my family, too."

That would have made me uncomfortable, too. The worst part is her just parking herself without asking. In your case, I think would have asked her to leave me alone, and to please wait for her husband somewhere else. Now, if she'd asked politely, I would have said sure. I'm never opposed to sharing a table with strangers at WDW when it's crowded, but the way she went about that is just rude.

You know those people (yeah, you all know who they are) who just know someone's waiting for a parking spot in the mall parkingl lot, and they proceed to take their sweet time getting in the car, starting the car, sitting in the car, putting the car in gear? That's what you should have done with your salad. Separate the tomatoes from the lettuce; spread your napkin on the table carefully, rearrange the salt and pepper shakers, smile at her, put down your fork, pick up your fork, sigh, chew, chew, chew....:goodvibes:rotfl2:

The arrogance and ignorace of some people never cease to amaze me. How uncomfortable it must have been for you!:sad2: You handled yourself well!

I know. I was just lost for words. The woman looked like she was in her late 50's (gray hair) that is why I held back, but I couldn't help myself and I had to tell her how rude she was. I can't believe some people! LOL! I can laugh about it now, but when it was happening I WAS STEAMING! lol

HI! LMAO! I only thought that happened to me!!! This happens to other people too??? YES!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS SO SO SO RIDICULOUS! LOL! This happens around the holidays too, when malls are PACKED. Thanks!

I would have told her to get up and leave because I was not finished and for her to find an empty table.

I know!!! I wanted to so bad, but I figured she is in her late 50's (guessing) and that's why I held off. I couldn't take it anymore, though! I did have to say something.

I think I just would have loudly f@rted.

This is one of those cases where I would LOVE to be able to do that on command! :lmao:

FWIW, I have asked other single diners if they wanted to join me if I had a table and there weren't any other openings (assuming, of course, they have their food...if they're just trying to find a table to hold while others get food, you can wait!). I don't particularly like eating with strangers, but I'd hate to be the person with the tray of warm food and nowhere to sit to eat it. :confused3

You forgot, call someone, send a couple of text messages, light up and try and back out while smoking and texting.

Oh wow! That would have bothered me too. I mean, imagine had her husband gotten there before you finished...would he have pulled up a chair too? Good Grief...I tend to "hover" too..and will even aproach and say "excuse me, but if you're almost finished, can we please have your table when you are done?" and then stood off to the side, NOT LOOKING AT THEM ( I HATE when people stay at me with that 'hurry the f up' look.), just glancing occasionally to check if they were packing up, and then thank them as they left.

I am pretty non-confrontational and passive-agressive, so I would have probably made up a lie and said that my family was going to be joining me in a minute and that she 'might' want to look for another table.
