What would you do for your 20th Anniversary?

It has always been my dream to go to WDW and stay at the Grand Floridian for my 20th Anniversary in December. DH has decided he would rather go somewhere in the Carribean. I think he has Disney overkill. Since Sept. 2010 he has been to WDW 3 times, and DL once. Two of these were business trips but he still went to the parks in the evenings. Once was a family trip and once was just the two of us for a short trip.

Just wanting some advice- I understand he wants to go somewhere else, but I can't get excited about going anywhere else since I always envisioned our anniversary trip at Disney.

IN 2007, my family had a reunion in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I told my daughter since we were flying right over Disney, we would stop for a few days. She looked at me really funny, and then politely told me the plane would not stop to let us off, and she was NOT parachuting out...:rotfl2:

I knew that. lol. So, I booked a flight to Orlando, went to WDW for 3 days, then booked a flight from Orlando to Punta Cana to meet family, then booked a flight home from Punta Cana.

This is my round about way of saying you can do both, WDW and somewhere in the Carribbean, and the cost of the flights were not much more that a direct round trip flight. Hope this will work. :thumbsup2

Or you could do a Disney cruise to the Caribbean and then do the land/sea combo adding on a few days at Disney (I'll cross my fingers for the GF for you.) :)

And go on the Cruise board and arm yourself with all sorts of info before bringing it up! Like how you could be totally away from any kids - if that's what you wanted, etc.

Or make a deal that 20 gets the Caribbean but 25 gets Disney? Or vice versa?

Or see why he really wants the Caribbean and see if you can't replicate it at Disney a little. Does he want a lot less parks? Great, stay at the GF, lounge by pools, rent watercraft, eat at Signatures every night, do tours instead of the parks, maybe try the Premium package for all or part of your stay to give you all sorts of other options.

Personally I think he's got a great idea. Why not try something different, just for the anniversary? For some people unique = special. Although I do like pp idea of stopping over in orlando, or doing a cruise!

I can say what we did for our 20th anniversary. We did it at Disney World, we picked a VERY out of the way place to renew our vows and then did it. My brother-in-law read our same vows that we did 20 years ago, we had our very small family with us (our son was best man, my sister repeated as matron of honor), and we had a good time. Understand, this was NOT through Disney is that it took ten minutes and we were so far out of the beaten path no one knew what we were doing but it was special.

And that's the thing - it was special. That's what you need to do. Our 30th anniversary is happening in January of 2012 and we'll be back at Disney World with extended family (my son has a family). BUT, we have adjusted to everyone and it's just going to be a pizza party at Pop Century, no vows.

Choose what you BOTH want.

I won't be much help for your husband! We have spent our 12th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th and on July 28th our 27th anniversaries at Disney World! We also took our honeymoon there so it is very special for us to spend our anniversary there! I am sure you will have a wonderful anniversary whatever you decide to do but I hope you win out and get to spend it at the Magic Kingdom!
