What would you do differently on your up coming trip?

I also did not realize how out of shape I was until I spent hours and hours on my feet. I have started a weight loss program to get in better shape for our Oct trip.

We are also doing different things this trip that we have not done before, golf, horse back riding, MNSSHP.

Whew.. I finally found this thread of mine! I was wondering what happened to it, it got burried 3 pages back.. Anyways... glad I found it and see the responses.

Talk about out of shape..I am also out of shape. I need to start excercising, just cause I am slender, it doesn't mean anything. Honest, I sometimes find myself catching my breath or my heart pounding when I walk too fast even for a short period of time.

Oh.. We have never done Fantasmic!...So hopefully this time we will make it to Fantasmic! show.

Anyone else?

DH and I have decided to share meals as much as we can on this trip. We would always order our own entree and it inevitably ended up being more than we could eat. We have resolved to share more this time, and if it's not enough, we can always get something else to eat later! :mickeybar I'll be interested to see how much money we save doing this.

We are also bringing a blow up bed for DD to sleep on in the hotel room. We stayed at CBR two years ago, and the sleeping arrangements were less than ideal. She is a wild sleeper, so it's almost impossible for DH or I to share a bed with her and get any sleep (feet in back, hands slapping your head in the middle of the night, etc.). So, DH and I would cram together in the other double bed and that really wasn't much better. Last year, we stayed at POR AB, and lo and behold, there was a trundle under one of the beds! DD slept on the trundle, and DH and I each got our own bed, and we all slept really well. So, this year we are staying at POFQ, and we have a twin size blow up bed for DD to sleep on. She loves sleeping on it, and all three of us will get the rest we need! Now, I just hope Mousekeeping doesn't get the idea we are trying to have more people in our room than allowed! :rolleyes1

The only really big regret I have about our trip (6/04) was that we put off Wishes until our last night-- kind of a last night send-off type thing. That night there was a pretty bad electric storm, and Wishes was cancelled.

We were all so disappointed.

We also only had 5 park days (morning to night commando style) and no time for extras, like Downtown Disney. We crammed in laundry time (as did everyone else the same night at ASMo-- which led to some temper tantrums... another story.) We also had very little down-time... my dd begged to spend more time at the pool-- definitely NEXT time!!!

We're going to stay off-site this trip. With the number of people we have (5 adults, 1 child) it is soooooo much cheaper and more comfortable for us to get a 3bdr villa at Cypress Pointe rather than the 2 room value resort plan we used last time. It was, with tax at rack rate, about $100 per room per night for those tiny value rooms, so $1400 for a week. At CP we can get the 3bdrm with kitchen and kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, coffee maker, HBO, etc. for *half* the price of the value. Even with a massive discount code we will still get more value out of an off-site place. I love staying on-site but until we're rich it's not really worth it. :)

We took two trips last year and the first one we did quite a few sitdown meals. On the second trip we did mostly counter service. With the upcoming trip I'm going to try to find a nice balance between the two and even eat many meals off-site, especially breakfast which was pretty unsatisfying for everyone last time.

I'm also probably not going to bring the video camera. It was a pain lugging it around and we hardly used it. I'll just take a ton of digital and 35mm pics and that should cover it.

My child will be old enough this time to deal with the characters better so I plan on spending more time meeting her favorites.

For our past trips, I've made PS's based on when we planned on eating. Example: if we wanted to eat at the Sci-Fi around 6:00, I'd make a PS for 6:00.

However, for our upcoming trip, I'm going to make the PS's for about 20-30 minutes earlier than when we actually want to eat. Because Priority Seating not an exact reservation system, we've always had about a 20-30 minute wait for our table. Not really a problem, unless we had wanted to catch a show/parade/fireworks afterwards.

This way, if we want to be out of the Sci-Fi by 5:15 to catch the parade, we have more of a chance making it if my PS is for 4:15 instead of 4:45. And if we end up not having a wait, it will be OK, because we'll still be out of there by the time the parade starts.

** OK, this all makes perfect sense in my head, but reading back, it sounds confusing. Sorry if I'm confusing anyone!

this will be our first mother/son WDW vacation! (DH staying home)
this will be our first 2 wk vacation
this will be our first time staying at an EpCot resort
etc etc etc

HI, What I will do differently is have a day where we sleep late, do a sit down breakfast and then spend time at the pool in the morning when it is less crowded!( We always end up at the pool at around 2pm after spending the morning in a park. )Then we will hit the park early afternoon. An alternate to this for my family on our next trip since I am traveling with my 2 boys(my DD will stay home, she is in College) is to head to DQ in the morning.Let my boys play until about 1pm, this will give DH and I some time together. We can all have lunch together. Then back to the hotel pool in the afternnon and back to DQ in the evening. My DH and I could also have a nice dinner together (Flying Fish) and stroll over to Epcot! :cool1: Joan

Take less clothes!! I took so much stuff for the 5 of us in February that we never wore. Now, I did have to plan for the many different weather possibilities that February could have, but still, I just took TOO much. And if I don't bring enough, I can always do laundry.

Have my boys share more meals. We threw out food a few times (something I hate doing) because we overestimated how much they'd eat.

Buy less souvenirs.

And the only other thing is to spend more time in MK as compared to the other parks. We didn't get a lot done there that we wanted to. So this next trip will have the focus on MK!!

Good ideas for my next trip. I did find myself bringing more than I need. So I will make my packing simple.

Buy less souviniers..or just don't buy any..have way too many already!

Doing at least 1 or 2 PS and make it about 20 minutes early, so you're not starving while waiting and you get to your next agenda without delay and mess up your planning.

Make sure to do Wishes early or mid trip this way if it rains on your last day, and the Wishes is not showing..it's okay cause you have done/see in already and there is no regrets.

Anyone else? What would you do differently on your next trip?

I will absolutely LOSE THE COMMANDO MODE...did you all hear that? I WILL!!

Hopefully with later park hours than our first family trip in '03, we'll be able to take advantage of the parks in the evenings. My hope is that we alternate early mornings and that we always take that break in the afternoon. I absolutely can't wait to see the parades and evening shows as we skipped all (or they weren't offered) last time except for Fantasmic. DH will just have to deal...he says he doesn't go for "that kind of stuff"...

We are staying on site for the first time and trying some different restaurants. Everyone wanted to go to the ones we had visited before, but I talked them into some different things with the exception of Cindy's for breakfast!

And, finally, I also need to get into shape for our end-of-May trip. CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!

I would plan more resort time for hanging out at the pool. I thought a day at Kennedy Space Center and the beach could be considered an "off day"...HA!! Kennedy Space Center is no quick tour. Next time I'm planning to stay for more days. Also, I really underestimated how tired ds, 7, would be from all the walking. We ended up renting a double "kid cart"/"kid mobile" (ds would NEVER get in if it were a "stroller") just about everyday. The two days we didn't, we ended up wishing we had. So, even though ds will have just turned 9 at our next trip, I plan on renting a "kid cart"/"kid mobile" just in case he needs an occassional ride.
