It's probably a bit obvious but wondering. As prior posts state, my knee is acting funny from the accident. It was the only thing not xrayed at the hospital. They just saw the bruise and said it was beat up but fine. But now that i'm putting some more weight on the leg, there seems to be something weird going on. It actually feels like there is something chipped off and moving around in there. I was reading online last night and it sounds like a certain type of fractured petulla? (knee cap). It is bruised under the knee and feels just sore, then there is an area that is totally numb. And right above that is where I can feel the odd part and right there it feels like a knife cutting into it. But only a tiny area feels that kind of pain. Reading it also seemed like I should be feeling more pain in the knee (I hurt there but not omg I can't stand it) if there was something fractured, or maybe it's because i'm on constant pain meds. But when I feel it, it most certainly feels like something is loose in there and when I walk, it feels like something is hitting it with every step when nothing is around it.

I am supposed to have a follow up doctor appointment on Wed but I was thinking I shouldn't wait so long if my knee is messed up. But we called and my entire office has nothing available until tomorrow. So should I wait until then or should I try a walk in clinic today? My husband said we should wait because our doctor knows the situation, can send us to a specialist and be done with it. What I think will happen is that we go to the doctor, he sends us for an xray and we go back to the doctor and then get the referral to the specialist... i can see this taking days and days. I think he thinks we'll show up tomorrow and be sent RIGHT over to a specialist who can do the xrays and all and be done with it by tomorrow night. I honestly don't think so. So i'm thinking if we go to a walk in clinic, at least today I get my knee seen, they can run the xray and we know going into my appointment tomorrow if the knee is broken or not already.

I don't know.... what do you all think?

UPDATED on post 9 - thanks all

Since you were just at the doctor, can't you get him on the phone today, explain the situation, and see if he will just write you up an order for an x-ray. That way you can get that done today and the results will be ready for him to view on Wednesday? I mean, really, there is nothing visually that your doctor can see of you knee just by showing up.

Also, I think in order to get a good look at the knee they will probably need an MRI?

Call you doc, get him on the phone and explain it.

Our office is too "busy" to talk to the doctors. That is a good idea to try to get in somewhere for an xray though...

Maybe you can find some advice on this thread here.

You probably need an MRI like I had. They'll be able to see so much more.

Sounds like you might feel better if you go get it checked out. Did you get someone to help out with your kids today? I would suggest an urgent care so you could go when you have someone to help or when DH gets home. Most urgent care places have x-ray and some even have MRI. Good luck...it sounds painful...seems like you've had your share health problems lately. I hope it not too serious. They could refer you on if needed. :goodvibes

My husband ended up taking today off again. He's gotta watch these days off, we are going to Ireland in May, tickets already bought! We called the doctor office again, about an hour ago, still haven't heard back. Called to see if we could get a prescription without being seen to get an xray done... that way i'd have films to show him tomorrow at the appointment.

If we don't hear back soon though, will probably just head to one of those walk in clinics... I know of one that definately has an xray machine.

I hit a tree when skiing some years back. They treated my knee for a bad sprain and put it in a brace and a few weeks later it seemed better. 5 years ago I started noticing a weird feeling and could hear a grinding kind of sound whenever I got up from a sitting position. I went to my regular dr. who in turn sent me to a ortho. He did an x-ray and found all sorts of bones chips floating around my knee. They operated the next week and could not save my knee cap. It was smashed into too many pieces. If I were you I would see an ortho as soon as possible.

That's what I am thinking, that there is maybe a chip of bone hanging out in there cause that's what it feels like... something small moving around in there.

I guess we are going to urgent care... my doctor just isn't calling back, it's been 2 hours.

Good go and let us know what they find.

Well we ended up in urgent care, my doctor never called back! I had an xray and an exam of my knee. The xray came back normal so I didn't break the patella. But she said there is LOTS of fluid on the kneecap and she thinks I tore a ligament in my knee. I have to get an MRI done next. Oh and more fun, I am now in a brace that goes from my ankle to my theigh, can't move it what so ever. So i've got the knee brace and the foot boot thing all on the same leg, I must look so pitiful. And worse is that I have to go back to putting absolutely no weight on my foot which hurts the top of me so bad with the crutches. When I started putting weight back on the foot over the weekend it was helping relieve the top of me with the crutches. UGH!

You need to ENVOKE you Disney Queen rights NOW .

Go lay down and be waited on hand and foot :lmao:

Thanks, unfortunately can't lay down long... gotta get to another doctor appt in a few minutes. And then heading to grandma's house to be waited on hand and foot, hee hee. Which will be nice but it's not MY bed!

Hope you get better soon!............I had an x-ray on my knee last week and have a ultra-sound Thurs. Don't know what is going on yet :(
But, after listening to you I think I'm in good shape :confused3 I guess it could be alot worse. My knee is clicking and grinding swollen and painful. Oh and we have a trip to WDW in 38 days! :Pinkbounc Good Luck!

How's the knee and foot and did you have your MRI? I was on crutches for almost six weeks last year after ankly surgery. It was a major pain...and I didn't have a toddler.

My foot was feeling better but now it's really bothering me again. The doctor was surprised how swollen it still was almost a week later.

As for my knee, I am waiting on the go ahead from my insurance to make the appointment for the MRI, my doctor yesterday confirmed the doctor at the Urgent cares concern, too much fluid in the knee and a torn acl ligament. I already have the go ahead to call the orthopedic doctor but am waiting until I get the MRI appointment to make that appt so I can take the MRI results with me.

My husband is SO sweet. My grandma took the baby today and after he dropped him off, he went to the store and bought a cooler with tons of water and soda and even chocolate milk. And bought me a bunch of snacks and all and left them by my bed so I wouldn't have to try to get downstairs and upstairs to have drink and food today.

Good luck...I hope you get your MRI soon. This past summer, I tore my ACL and needed it reconstructed. If you need any support or advice or questions answered, I know more about the ACL than I'd ever hoped to. Hugs to you....
