What would you choose

We have ridden just about every ride in all 4 parks at least once through the years. We don't know for certain it will hurt or make us sick. We don't ride Star Tours any more but did a few times when it opened, even rode that darn Body Wars back in the day a few times. He has nerve damage in his spine and as long as it's not bumping or jerky, he can do pretty well. He can ride ToT, BTMR and even Splash but not SM (I can't ride that either) or RNRC or EE. I've read most of the reviews and it seems it's not too jerky and the back coming up should support his back. As far as getting sick, we are going to pay our penny and take our chances, won't know until we try it. We will most likely ride it late in the evening so if does hurt his back we can just go back to the resort. I offered to not ride it and he was adamant that we have to at least ride it once (grown man of 37 so he knows his body).

Hi - I was wondering if you took your trip yet. I'm 40 and have a bad back, too. I can ride things like Soarin' because it's smooth, but have to avoid the jerkiness/impact of things like Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, BTMR. I, too, really want to ride FoP - and I have been given some discretion by my doctor (I always listen to his advice first, so no worries there). Just curious if your son had any feedback on his ride / how the ride moved?

We rode it twice in August, I'm actually at WDW right now but have no desire to ride it again since I'm here solo and it caused me multiple issue. As far as jerkiness goes, it isn't jerky at all, a really smooth ride with maybe a little swaying and up and down. My son loved it, thus the two rides. I had issues with the glasses being way to big for my tiny little head (don't know how kids do it) I had to hold on to them the entire ride and the way the seats were it put pressure on my sternum, which caused my reflux to now be happy.

Our trip is not until February and it has changed sens I started the thread we are spending a extra night so the young people will rope drop our parents are meeting us later

I know what you mean. DH has a broken spine with a titanium vertebrae. He, too, can't ride the jerky rides like SM, Thunder Mountain and Dinosaur, but he can ride pretty much everything else. The reviews say the ride is smooth, so I don't think he'll have a problem with it.

Regarding motion sickness (which I suffer from as well), since it's a simulator I'm planning on just closing my eyes during bad parts. Worst case scenario I'll have my eyes closed for 4 minutes...I have to close my eyes on philharmagic and star tours too, no big deal :)

Bonine is considered non drowsy, but just a heads up - DH and I both get totally knocked out by it...so not everyone reacts the same way. We're obviously in the minority, but just wanted to let you know that it can happen. It made us so tired we could barely drag ourselves out of bed. What works for my family are Sea Bands.
Yes, Bonine makes me sleepy too.

Thank you so much! My sister is there now - also said it was smooth. Glad it went so well for your son. I can't wait to ride (worth the risk to me). I hope you feel completely better soon!

The thing about Bonine is that it is longer acting. You can take it at night, so that it making you sleepy isn't an issue and still benefit from it in the next day. I am prone to motion sickness and I take it every night we are in Disney or on a cruise. I am never sleepy during the day.

Regarding bonine, I also take it the night before. I am very susceptible to drowsiness and work on boats. Can't be falling asleep while working! When it's expected to be rough, I take it the night before.

As for your fastpass, because your trip is only 1 day it is likely that FOP will not be an option. People are having trouble getting FOP less than 64ish days out. You should plan to rope drop.

I just visited AK and I would recommend you choose FOP as your FP. I had no issue with motion sickness on it and I have on occasion felt that way after star tours. I rope dropped NRJ and had zero wait. I did on the way to NRJ see the hundreds of people already in line for FOP. If you can get a FP for it, it is really worth it.

I made my for the river ride because FOP was not available at 60 days out. I am doing RD. I'm only doing about 4 rides, FOP, River ride, Safari, Kali River Rapids, then the lion king. After that I am heading to Epcot to try to get on TT, Sorin, and Frozen. I am solo, so can do single rider line.
