We have always stayed at the GC. This trip we want to try something different. Would you choose Dl hotel with pool view or Pph club with park view for the same price?

That's tough. My first instict was club level. The PPH is not my favorite but it was just recently refurbed. I do love the DLH. Can you guarantee the pool view at the DLH?

Yes I believe it was 60 bucks extra for pool view. It is tough to pick. I am not a huge fan of Pph either. What refurbs have been done?

I have some pics of our stay at PPH in a regular room that was refurbished if you would like to see them. Ours looked over the pool area.

Why switch things up if your family likes the Grand?

Since you're not a fan of PPH then I think you should take it off your list of possible hotels if you really want to change things up for this trip. If you're going in already thinking PPH isn't for you then it won't bode well for you to plan to stay there the whole trip. Personally my family prefers it over the GCH but everyone has different criteria.

We wanted to try something different. I always keep an open mind and go with the flow and am always willing to try new experiences. Maybe it will become my fav after staying there...who knows:goodvibes

Hope that helps! We prefer the Grand, but it was fun to check out a new place.

We resisted staying at PPH for years thinking it would be a huge let down after staying at the other two DLR hotels. I wish we had tried it sooner because it's now our 1st choice. Give it a try, maybe you'll really, really like it like we did :goodvibes

ArchOwl, that's pretty cool the PPH has rooms with a sofa sleeper and bed; is that new?

I am not sure if they always had sofa sleepers or not. We only stayed there after the renovations and I believe most of the rooms have either a king or two queens with the sofa bed. I should have made DH sleep in it to see how comfy it was! :rotfl:

Those are nice pics!! Looks like a very nice place to stay. I know the spring room deals come out after President's Day weekend so that idea is out. Rack rate I will not pay :sad2: so we booked at the Sheraton Park. We are Starwood owners and collect SPG points so this will work better for us. We got a king room, park view, club level for far less that what it costs to stay onsite standard room plus our little starwood gold membership perks to go with.:goodvibes

I am glad you found something you like. However, just keep an eye out for discounts on-site if you are still interested. We were able to get the "winter offer" in February earlier this year, which was a very good discount.

We love the space at PPH, but we also get a suite because there are always at least 6 of us, sometimes 8.

Yes I am going to keep a lookout for a discount and then decide if we will change:thumbsup2

I'm curious too b/c there are 8 of us going and I just assumed there were no hotels that had rooms for that many! Might have been cheaper to do that than book 3 separate rooms. Too late to change but good to know for later.

This time we are getting a two bedroom suite and it is $819/night with the 30% senior discount. It is actually three room. The 'master' has a king bed and a twin day bed/sofa sleeper. The living room has a queen pull out and the other bedroom has two queen beds and a day bed. We tried to get both bedrooms with two queens, but it wasn't an option. But there is still actual sleeping for 10 people. We'll be 7 or 8 (two 18 years olds, an 8 year old, a 3 year old, my parents, myself and perhaps another adult) and this will be perfect for us, lots of room and lots of choices. You could easily get three rooms somewhere for less, I'm sure. But we love the service and the view from PPH.
