Kind of along the lines of my earlier "Occupation?" thread (shameless plug), what would you choose to be if you could do it all over again. I don't mean Uncle Rico-type football dreams - I mean if you could choose any occupation, knowing what you know about yourself and your interests?

I'm an architect. Pretty cool job/career (most of the time) - but what I'd do (if I could guarantee it would pay the bills) would be to write alternate military history. For a semi-popular example - kind of like Harry Turtledove, but without the sci-fi elements. For a grognard (meaning 'old-school wargamer') example - Ken Macksey and Peter Tsouras are my heroes!

If I could do it all over again, I'd go back to school and become a dietician. I still could, maybe, I'm only 28, no kids yet. Nutrition has always fascinated me.

I would be a Professional Photographer during the day and a Professional Bellydancer by night......

When I was young I always wanted to be a dolphin trainer at Sea World. Seriously I did. Even up through high school. What stopped me? I never learned how to swim. I took lessons but was never comfortable in the water. :goodvibes Could be a problem right? Oh well.

Also I was always interested in being a sign language interpreter. This is still something I might pursue once the kids are in school full-time. Don't need to swim for that one!! ;)

I would be exactly what I have always wanted to be....a veterinarian.

Something totally different from what I am now... TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I have no idea what. If I did, I'd be out trying to make it happen. Desperately trying to figure it out, though.

I work at a University as a Career Counselor and I love working with college students. It's truly rewarding and a great environment. You almost never have to grow up!

I'm an RN with a bachelor's degree. It has served me pretty well job-wise and has been occasionally rewarding. I've worked in public schools for years as a school nurse. But I have no real passion for or interest in nursing, and never have :guilty:.

Based on my interests ever since I was a child, what I should have studied was architecture(!) or interior design. I remember studying house plan books and buildings ever since I was in elementary school. But no one ever told me when I was a kid to pursue what I had a passion for :(. Instead I tried to be "practical". Periodically I consider going back to school for architecture.

Can I just have your degree :teeth:???

We go from something similar to off the wall? LOL! I'm "none of the above." I'd choose an entirely different career, but nothing off the wall. I'd be a geologist. :) Sure beats paperwork!!!

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian! Due to LIFE circumstances, I am in retail management. If given the chance to do it over, I would do the Veterinarian no matter what the cost! I HATE my job and my life because I didn't pursue my dream. Now I push my DD to pursue her dream no matter what the cost.

I would be a doctor or an astronaut. However, that would require I be born with a scientific brain, which I was not. So it will always be a pipe dream for me.

Realistically, I would have gone on and become a psych nurse.

Unrealistically, I would have studied opera. Ridiculous in the fact that there's nowhere around here I could have done that, and the fact they don't often cast paraplegics in operas :(

I wanted to be, and am, a SAHM. Having said that, the kiddies are getting older...youngest will be 13 next week, and *I* feel still needs me to be home keeping an eye on things...and it certainly makes me think about the "what next for me" situation.

I have a degree in and worked in Accounting and Finance BC (before children), but if I had to do it all over again, I'd have gone to school for carpentry.

while growing up in a small town in the 80's, I went thru beauty school and did hair for a while(to much back stabbing) went on to a business college and got a diploma in "word processing" never worked in a office 1 day !!! I would go back to school to be a teacher......I love working with kids. I sign up for the preschool room every year at vacation bible school at our church--no one ever wants that job! :confused3

Yep. I've got those preschool class VBS scars too. Most of them are psychic though...

Excatly what I am now, a stay at home wife.

None of the above!

I'd be a stay-at-home-mom while my children were at home.

One of these days, when I grow up (or when my kids leave home), I'd like to be a ultrasound or xray tech.

(Right now I work part-time for an airline as a ticket agent -- inside office, no passenger contact.)

I always wanted to be an egyptologist (or historian). Something to do with history.

Here I am in retail management (the managerial side - not a store).
