What would improve my chances......

I have received 3 pins in the last 4 mths. The only thing that I had done, was add stuff in to my itinerary on the disney website. We weren't able to use any of the pins - they were for dates that we weren't going to be there for.

I am really hoping we can get a pin for the next time we go - or that free dining is offered

It really is hard to figure out. I've never booked and then cancelled. I've stayed at all three levels, value, moderate, and deluxe. I've been every five years for a while and then 3 years in a row. I got one bounce back offer in '07, several $59 dollar a night value offers over the years and a 40% off deluxe room this year which is the only offer I've used. It may be random or possible a variety of ways to get one. Hope somebody can solve the mystery.

I have received pin's twice. The most recent time was 2 weeks ago. We decided to go in December so I ordered the DVD. I got the pin a week later and then I got the dvd. So my only advice is to order the DVD!

I have been trying to get a pin for three years with no luck at all. I have even booked two trips during that time and not even a bouncback offer. Sometimes I wonder if they don't like offering discounts to the people that can only afford value resorts.

We have stayed at value the last two years and got a free dining bounceback offer in our room both times..we go in sept. so maybe it has something to do with the time of year you stay?

When we stayed in 2008 at ASMo we booked and paid for 3 rooms . My parents who were in the 2ND room got a bounce back offer in the mail as soon as we got home and we got nothing . I think its just a random pick .

I ordered the DVD and registered on the Disney website. I also make a habit of searching for vacation deals on their site quite often, without booking. I figure if they really want me to stay, they can offer an incentive for me to book. ;) Recently received a pin by email and another in the mail. Good luck! :goodvibes

DS and I went to Disney last May. Since our return, I have received 5 pins! One by mail and the others through my email. Of course I couldn't use them since we aren't going again until next May! My latest one I received was 2 days ago after I requested the DVD. I am constantly "saving" vacations on the WDW site so maybe that is how I am getting some. A weird thing though is my mother forwarded me a pin she received addressed to her family (my family too of course, but it had her last name on it!) and she has NEVER signed up for anything Disney! That makes one wonder how they decided who to send pins to. I was shocked that she got one and it was a GOOD one too! It is anybody's guess as to how you get a pin! I just hope I get another one that I can use when I book our trip for next May!

It does not work that way. They have a computer which figures out when you are next planning a trip and will not give you a code for that period. They set them up so you will take an extra, not previously planned, trip. :stir:

Ok, now I'm really interested. Any thoughts on how they pick when to send you pins for? IE if I want an october trip, should I be saving itineraries in August or something like that?

Another question... if you receive a free dining plan pin is there any way to apply it to a vacation booked through a villa with DVC?

How about if you are renting points?

It's a mystery, the last two pins I've gotten in the mail have been addressed to my youngest son :confused3 He does have a disney.com account, but he's 6 :confused3 My dh has gotten them in email, and his email account is never active on the disney site, I've never gotten an email pin, and I'm the account who is always logged in and saving offers. I did notice this time the pin came in the mail, a ton of people I know in my zip code got them too, some have been frequently over the years, some not so frequent, and some never.

Pins are truly a mystery. We normally go in the fall with the free dining promo. Last month we got a pin for free dining in the summer! We were not planning a trip this year, but can't refuse a free dining in the summer so we booked. I think it is the luck of the draw!:goodvibes

I got my first pin offer this year, and I've been dream planning with the same address and email for years.

This year we are all set for may, I got a planning DVD, DVC info and saved offers, and requested a set of customized maps.

My mother logged in just to get a second set of custom maps for my other kid, so they won't have to share (is that wrong?) And she got the same pin letter I got.

Go figure....but I am taking advantage of it, moved my dates forward and saved some money too!
Yay!:cool1:

Can Fla residents get pin codes? We are in NJ, and moving to Fla-plan on getting annual passes. I know we get some discounts on dining and rooms witht he annual passes, so does that mean no further pin code offers?

I've done everything anyone has ever mentioned to get a pin code. I think they know I will come home anyway. They could at least upgrade me...just once!

I don't know how the pin codes work last year I order three vacation planning DVD's and used my sister's name and address and my parents and my own and three different email addresses, hoping to get a pin code. My sister and parents received Pin codes and I never. I can't use theirs because the pin code is linked to their addresses. I have memberships in their vacation planning site, their movie rewards site and Disney Fan site and yet they send me no pin codes!! I wonder does it have anything to do with if you have never booked with them before? My parents or my sister have not been to Disney maybe it is to et first timers to visit.
:confused3

Yes, FL residents can and do get pin codes. Of course I'm not one of those that has ever gotten one but some friends of our have. I think that there is just a flag next to my family's name that says "No need for a pin codes because we know that they'll be back.".

I've gotten the WDW cds, gotten the DCL cds, filled out WDW surveys (both in the parks, at the resorts and once home), saved resort plans on their website, signed up for pretty much anything and everything WDW and have never once received a pin code. :sad2:

It's simply not true that they only send pin codes on dates that you haven't reserved or checked into on the site. Last year was my first trip in 25 years, and I started getting pins within a month of planning. I hadn't reserved, but I had played around on the reservation system looking for the best deals. I booked as soon as I got a good one.

I did the same thing in playing with dates on the reservation system, and got a free dining pin in the mail for the dates I wanted. I booked the same day. Just note that I plugged dates and different open promos into the system for probably 3 months before I got a pin. I think they were just like, would you book already!

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but this is what I have done. I would say that I've gotten at least 6 pins in the last 18 months.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing as a pin. I honestly don't know what a pin is, but I called the reservation number asked if there were any discounts or anything that we qualified for and she said there is a promotion a tierd discount only for Deluxe and Campground stays for the summer. I got 10% off. That's better than a poke in the eye so I'm happy. If I get a better offer in the mail ( dining is what I'm hoping for ) can I still use that? Thanks, and have a great day.
