What I mean by my topic title is is my son who has the maturity level of a 10 year old (severely autistic) wants to play on the structures on Castaway Cay typically mostly used by younger kids, will people get upset or ask him to leave? He certainly wouldn't touch any other kids and his speech is limited so he'd likely not talk to them either. He prefers the company of adults. Are structures like that open for him? The structure that they have out in the water wasn't built last time we were able to visit CC and the last time we were there the ship couldn't dock so we missed the island entirely. Obviously, there are a lot of things he's not able to do on the ship because he'll be an adult by then and his mental capabilities will mean a lot won't interest him, but at least he can come with us to Palo.
We asked him if he want to do a Disney cruise for graduation or Disneyland and the cruise was a resounding winner. So he at least we know he had fun on his last cruise that he so badly wanted to do it again. It can be really hard to tell. He can't express himself well. He didn't do the kids clubs for more than 2 hours on 1 day total, so he certainly won't be missing that. He hated it. Like I said, prefers adults.
I'll have to reacquaint myself with the ships from the adult perspective now since my youngest will be an adult. It's just not how we think of him given his cognitive age and we ALWAYS prepare for contingencies in advance to head off any troubles or melt-downs.
THANKS in advance!
