(hopefully we can also take advantage of the 5 for 3 and go for a few hours on the night before the official days and the morning after the official days.

Either one would be fine. Some shows like Billy Hill and the Hillbillies is dark on certain days so you need to account for that. If you do 5 days then you can attack the parks in the morning and get the long lined rides out of the way then rest and come back at night to take in the sights at a leisurely pace and use your FP you got earlier in the day.

I have found A LOT in the past that Monday`s can be almost as busy as the weekend. So I am going to suggest going

Tuesday, wed, thursday, OR Wed, Thursday Friday

On thursdays Aladdin sometimes plays and on a friday you would also catch longer park hours and the bigger shows such as the fireworks, fantasmic etc.

My experience is M-W is the best, Thursday starts to feel a little more crowded, and Friday it really picks up (and, if you've been earlier in the week you will really notice the difference). Saturday and Sunday are always packed.

Since March the Aladdin show in DCA has been dark on Mon., Tues., and Wed.

Right now the official calendar goes to July 15, and it has the Aladdin show being dark on Mon., Tues., and Wed.

I suspect that the Aladdin schedule will stay the same throughout the rest of the summer.

I just noticed that. Kind of disappointing that they would take one of their biggest attractions and shut it down for half of the week even during the popular summer season.
