looking at doing things DIY and just wondered what kind of price i should expect for flights

what was the lowest you have ever gotten recently?

It's a relative question. When are you thinking of going? This year prices have ranged between under £400 and £3,500 and yes, that is all economy :scared1:

I think about £500 each is my limit but if you asked last year i'd have said £400.

Difference this year we are tied to school holiday dates which makes a big difference.

For adults only i'd have no hesitation to go indirect for a cheaper price.

Yes, this year the prices have been crazy. I've spent the last 9months watching our flights prices for September, and on more than one occasions, it's been cheaper to travel in UC than in economy, which is crazy! I would say you are looking at £400-500 during the quieter months, and perhaps a little more for the summer period.

I would be happy with anything between £400-£500. Gone are the days of £200 bargains :-(

The price is going to vary depending on when and who you travel with.

For the Scheduled airlines (BA, Virgin, American etc) the season tend to work...

Low Season (Cheapest) Jan to March, November till around 10th Dec ish
Shoulder/Mid Season April (exc easter) - 30 Jun, Sept & Oct
High Season (Dearest) Jul & August & 10th Dec ish - Christmas

The fares sometimes drops down slighly around the 23rd August in comparison with the rest of August. Christmas peak fares usually start applying around the 10th but can drop from xmas day onwards. Easter varys but is usually not as high in price as Summer/Christmas.

Weekends (Fri, Sat Sun) are usually £20 per person more the Weekdays

Bear in mind that school holidays dates sell out fast and will put the price up.

Sorry can't help so much with the charter flights (TUI, First Choice) but they usually have big increases during the holidays.

This year we had to pay about £650 pp to travel in August with flight via Chicago, the direct flight were around the £850 mark :scared1:. In May 08 we pay around £600 for direct Virgin flights.

Happy planning :goodvibes

we would be going from the 8-22nd September next year!

I know they haven't been released yet but just wanted to get an idea of costs just in case we need to DIY.

Not suprising when £200 does not even cover the tax - even airmiles will not get you there for that price these days!!!

It's a crying shame - my Sister in Law would love to go to Florida with her tribe (she has 6 children but would not be taking the eldest two who are 19 & 18) The accommodation cost is fine - but the flights....the cost is outrageous.
