What would be best at DL?

We are going in August and have one week with points. I want to add 3 days to beginning of trip. What do you think would be more cost effective:
Trying to add the 3 days with a DVC cash rate discount (if this is possible) or hoping a discount comes out for any of the 3 resorts? We want to stay on property so not an option to use a close hotel....i know there are several but we prefer onsite.

Thank you!

I would use the DVC discounted rate. DL doesn't offer many discounts, especially in the summer when it is already so busy

I have never seen discount rates for DVC but they usually have AP holder discounts for their hotels. Do you not have enough points to even borrow?
If you do have more points but THEY have nothing available in the villas you can use points for just the hotel rooms.

I'm never received a DVC cash rate at DL either - which I find disappointing. Can you use one time use points that you can purchase (up to 24/year I think) for a stay at the other hotels if no villa is available? I don't think 24 would even give you one night in the summer - but maybe in a combination of those and borrowed points?
Are you already an AP or do you need tickets, too? You can check Costco for packages - it is generally the same price as booking just through Disney, but you get extras - meal vouchers, gift card. It varies from time to time, but if you are committed to staying at one of those three hotels and don't have an AP - it is something to consider.

It's so tiny that I'm not terribly surprised by that. In theory there must be something they do to compensate for trades outside of DVC but it kind of seems like they decided to skip any cash rentals although I don't know for certain how they could. But I've never seen nor heard of one and I have also inquired a couple of times. I'm actually ok with it though because it is so small and it would be just an odd room here and there for availability.
