What would be a nice scenic walking route in the Disneyland area?

We have an ifit module so can map out on google maps, a walk anywhere google maps go. While we walk on our treadmill, we can view online where we are 'walking' and get to see places on our route, on our netbook. The google cams do not go right into Disneyland (boo!) but I have made a few maps of my little walk from Hojo's to Disneyland.

I am most interested in seeing commercial buildings, such as stores, shops, restaurants and hotels. The route should take around 30-45 min. to walk.

Any ideas for which direction or streets in Anaheim, near Disneyland on google maps I should be headed?

Thanks! Before our trip, I am trying to go from Pooh sized (sixe 2X, around a 22 or so) to a more reasonable 'tigger' size I suppose. I hate being buckled into rides and having the bar almost not fit when they press it down, and I hate lugging all this weight around all day when in the parks, so am going to eat healthier and try to lose weight.

Thanks for any help with a walking route! :goodvibes

I'd suggest walking through Gardenwalk, the outdoor mall a block east of Harbor Blvd. There are upper and lower decks, and stairs at the north end on Disney Way.

On Katella you can walk between Harbor Blvd and Disneyland Drive, then turn north on DL Drive and head towards GCH. If you continue on the sidewalk under the DTD bridge you'll hook up with the walking path between the Mickey & Friends parking structure and the DL entrance, which parallels the tram route.

I've thought about walking all the way north on DL Drive to Ball Road, then east to Harbor Blvd, and south from there back to the DL entrance, but haven't done that one yet. From the Harbor Blvd bridge over I-5 you'd be able to see into the DL backlot, including the fireworks launching zone.

Just a few thoughts.

Wow, good luck on your goal! I really can't think of scenic area's around Disneyland. However, downtown Orange would be fun. It has been restored, with lots of antique shops and the plaza fountain in the middle where Glassell and Chapman Avenues come together. The beach areas are also nice. Walking around Balboa Island might be what you are after as well. Both sides of the street are lined with lots of unique little shops as well as a beautiful old church. I hope that helps. :tink:

I can't suggest a route but I am subscribing as we are contemplating purchasing the same module to go with the elipitcal that we just bought - do you like it? Is it easy to use?

I'm pretty sure Google Maps goes into Legoland, or at least it used to. Not exactly DL, but it might help when you want to be in theme park mode! Good luck.....

Thank you everyone, for all of your awesome replies, I am so excited to start planning the routes out for all of the tips!!

YKMom, I am surprised that it is not showing a real walk, rather, pictures loading from one point to another, because of the refresh time... We have a fairly fast internet service as well so I was surprised at that. I can see McDs. then suddenly we can see the Carousel Inn, etc. It is still interesting, and will help me to better learn the layout of the area. It's pretty cool. I first had netbook hooked to TV but when pictures is so big the refresh rate is slower, so netbook where I can see it seems to work.

I love all of the tips, everyone, thank you so much!! :goodvibes

YKMom, we also have all sorts of connection errors, so have to hook it up to the pc again and reinstall the FW (firmware) but there is a lot of self guided help available on their website. It's not too hard to use, and is pretty cool overall.

Thanks!! :) This is day 4 of eating healthy and it feels like a lifestyle change, not like a diet. The first 2 days were very hard, now it is easier.

That is exactly how I lost my weight and have kept it off for 3 years. I don't diet--I just have a new way of eating that I am very careful to stick to. I eat whole grains when possible, I never have seconds (just one serving each), eat fruit for dessert durring the week, and have Saturday night for my "free night" where we eat out at a restaurant and I order what I want. I almost always get dessert on Saturday night too. It fell off slowly yet steadily for a year (I think I lost about 2 pounds a week), and since then I just maintain it by doing the same thing. I lost 30 pounds that I gained due to early menopause (POF) at 33.

I feel so much better! I use to have back aches all the time in the morning, and now my back never hurts. I just feel more comfortable in my clothes, too.

Good luck! Every little bit helps. If you mess up one day, just get right back on it the next.

Take care,
Lisa

Aw, thanks, Lisa, I remember you from the McD's thread, LOL, that I posted.. you are really sweet!! I did have McD's yesterday, 2 single (small) cheese burgers, no drink, and no fries, and that was a huge treat for me, I loved it so much! :) I thought I would die walking 25 min. on the treadmill, I got to see California Pizza Kitchen, (walked from BWPPI on that program) and I decided I'd better stop at 25 min. to make sure I can do that daily without burning out. I was more hungry though this evening, so had some baked cheetos, (100 cal pack ) and some triscuits, around 75 calories. I think when I go to bed I will have a piece of toast with a little tiny bit of marg. I think I have it in the bag, then have a huge craving. My Crohn's disease is against me because I find too much fibre is way too hard on my system. White breads are more easily tolerated, and I know those are empty calories. I am on medication for my Crohn's but find it odd some people with Crohn's get really tiny, and others, like me, well, not so much.

Anyway, thank you to all for this support! I have been in the river of denial in the Jungle Cruise ride for far too long, and need to change some things.

Thanks for all of your responses!! :) Lisa, you're a sweetie! Kudos to you for taking the weight off and keeping it off!! I know all about the backaches; never before, until now. Ouch!
