What words have you made up?

Tap into your inner Shakespeare. What words have you created (or borrowed from others) that don't actually exist but suit your needs anyway.

DH and I use "Shenanigoats" a lot to describe the hijinks our dogs get into. Taken from a movie marquee on the Simpsons that had that listed as one of the movies showing.

Also, "Rickdiculous". Borrowed from an SNL moment where Ludacris is visited by his childhood friend from Atlanta who accused him of stealing his personality and idea for a name (the friend's name was Rick-diculous).

One that comes to mind has never been written, only sung. The only context in which it is ever used is when DH and I play games involving a great deal of frequent shuffling of decks of playing cards.

The “word” is a silly amalgamation of Shuffle, Snuffleupagus and Pachalafaka. We usually sing it one of two ways - Shuffle-uh-fa-kuhs or Shuffle-ah-fa-kuhs - to this tune:

I think it was coined one day many years ago by an impatient individual who figured it would be better than hollering “WILL YOU SHUFFLE THE CARDS ALREADY”!

I'll try to keep you company for a minute too. it is morning already on my side of the world I am not awake enough yet to think of any good things to add though

We tend to use a lot of old fashioned words and phrases in our family (no idea why), but they are not really made up. Stuff like "spit spot" when you want someone to hurry. DS12 also tend to pick up quirky phrases from shows he has been in--the most noticeable over the last couple of years is "Holy Cabooses" whenever anything startles him--it started off as a joke when he was in Hello Dolly and somewhere along the line it actually entered his subconscious and now he just does it.

One made-up word we use a lot is "Waldorfy" My kids go to a Waldorf school, so when things seem like they are a good fit for that place, they are "waldorfy" converesly, sometimes things AT school do not really fit, like my son's new teacher who just isn't very "waldorfy" at all

I'm NHDisneylover's daughter. I just wanted to add that she missed a word. Things are also always fergaliscious to my brother. He did not really make it up it is stolen from the song by Fergie, however, not really a normal word either.

I say "doobry" or "whatsit" if i can't think of what i'm trying to say!
i.e i'm looking for......oh you know the doobry! My poor DH has to try and translate!

Two or more girls going to the bathroom together to discuss something important such as boys, at a party. This word was invented by me at a party while waiting in a very long line for the bathroom.

I call my son "Monkeybug" when he is too clingy/silly to be a lovebug

My dd uses "What the feathers"...from Suite Life. all the time,,,

My ds4 has a speech delay and Raviolis are Rollie Ollies and the dinausaur ones are Dino Roars...do I dont even call them by their real names anymore

Since you asked...When my older son was about 18 months he was sitting at the dinner table and pooted and laughed and said 'farbubble'. It stuck for a while as a family word

My DFi came up with "conflustered." He started to say "confused," but changed it to "flustered," and it stuck.

And not that it's a made-up word, but when we went to the Kittery, Maine outlets with his parents one day, and his father wanted to go to the Fuller Brush store, Jay kept calling it "the Filibuster store."

Also, when I was a child, I knew that cussing was bad, so when I got mad and wanted to use the strongest language I could to express my anger, I'd scream 'MANHOLE COVERS!" I just felt that saying that was bad.

I know there are more, but this is the one that gets used most frequently with our Beagles.

This was when the beanie baby craze was going on and DD19 had some beanie baby "Kittens" - but when she said it, it came out "Kitnet" - It has evolved to mean ALL stuffed animals.

I have a terrible addiction to Triscuits, specifically so we have morphed a few words. We have Truscuit dust meaning the little pieces that fall off in their wheat y goodness when you bite into one. We also use Triscuitize which is when I get the Triscuit dust all over myself or on the table, car etc.

Our dog, Buster used to fart a lot. Once when my DD farted, she said "Oops, I bustered." It stuck...that's what farts are called in our family.
