What will you do with your contracts when you get too old to use the points?

Are you going to sell? Do your kids want it? How will they share it?

Have you left special instructions in your will?

I am almost 60 so I think about this occasionally. My two kids have little interest in it. One lives in Seattle, the other in Milwaukee.

How could I leave it without leaving the obligation to pay the yearly dues?

Not too warm and fuzzy a topic. Sorry!

Good question, but I am nearing sixty and I don't want to think about this....but I guess I should. We have 600 pts and our 2 kids will split the points and the dues. They are 24 and 25 and not really too interested right now, but they will be. They can always rent them out until they are past this stage---like when they have kids or start to realize what wonderful vacations they can have whether they stay at WDW or go to so many of the other destinations that are availabe. I think it will be great for them!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

We are 46+47 now so we plan enjoying many more years of DVC. But we also know that our 2 kids(29+17) also love going to WDW and VB. So they know it will be for there enjoyment and grandkids enjoyment.

We are fortunate to only have the dues payment. So each of our kids will have a 300 pt contract each. If they choose to sell(which I doubt) there contract down the road, that is there choice.

Since we have one at OKW and another at VB they shouldn't have any problems of switching with each other. Both contracts are same use yr also.

probably will it to my niece and nephew - after I retire I was thinking of setting up an increasing annuity to DVC to pay the dues. there might be a simply way by then.

that we inherited from other DVCer's to the first one who volunteers to take them over...

this could work for you, too...

Ain't it funny, always wanted points at VB and OKW...

;)

Sorry, just trying for a smile from y'all:sunny:

Our son and his wife already own at BW and are Disney addicts. We bought SSR with the intention of leaving it to our grandson (now 6 months). I'll pay the dues as long as I'm able then it'll be up to someone else!

I want to be stuffed, dressed in a nice suit (with a CM Name Tag) and put by the Check-In desk at SSR - with a sign in one hand that says "Welcome Home"!

All 400 points will go to our one and only DD. Lucky little girl!princess:

In that case, let me be the first to volunteer. ;)

Although, I'm technically not a DVCer yet. I'm in the ROFR process for an OKW resale. ::Crossing fingers that Disney doesn't take it from me::

As for the original question, down the road, I will be putting my nieces names on the deed.

1. We will never be to old to enjoy DVC

2. We will however pass on to our two children at the appropriate time

3. That time will be when it is their turn to spend the buckos on poor old mom and dad who spoiled them for all those years by taking them to WDW!!!

I think this plan fits our retirement plans quite well.

Hopefully the VWL contract will expire before I do !!!

;)

I will request a handicapped room, and have a big load of Depends delivered prior to my arrival. :teeth:

myself and my wife are both young(28 and 23 respectively). we bought SSR so i will be 78 and she 73 when time's up. no real plans to not be going even at that age so currently our future children are s.o.l I guess:crazy:

but if we do decide to stop going regularly, then I guess our children would get it:rolleyes: but they have to take us with them every so often:teeth:

We are aproaching 60 too, and I know one of our adult children would be happy to have DVC left to him. The other could care less! I would hope we have a long WDW/DVC life left yet! I will be 95 when it expires!:smooth:

When we bought SSR we thought the 50 years would get all of our future grandkids thru their childhoods. Our contracts will get split between our two boys.

Remember, you may not get the room you request...;)

Both me and my husband plan on renting those electric wheelchairs and racing to be the first one on Main Street at MK! Our points expire when we are 91 years old and then we will have to decide whether to renew! ha!

We have two 150 point contracts at SSR. Doing the math, we probably won't see the 50 years expire, but we are intending to retire to an area about 1 hr away ( already have the land) and expect to take full advantage of our points for some time to come. Eventually, we may sell off one contract and give DD the other, or maybe she'll get both...that's why we got two contracts..to increase the choices!
As a side, since we are on this subject.... When my time is up, DH and I have specified we want to be creamated and have some of our ashes scattered from Spaceship Earth...has anyone heard whether or not Disney would honor such a request??? I know there is a trap door at the very top, and was hoping to "leave" from there!
"Dying" to get your feedback!!!

I agree with you Tinkerbelloncapecod. Both my husband and I will be 91 when our contract runs out but we are young at heart.
Our contracts will be split between our two DD who love Disney.

I will be 99 when mine expire's. I was telling my son (29)that I plan on leaving it to him and his sister( 31) because I'll never live that long. He just laughed at me and told me as long as I have Disney I won't be going anywhere. So I guess I'll be right along with Maistre Gracey. My DD allready has plan's to buy into DVC.
