When I called for dining reservations for early January, they asked me if we were celebrating anything special - maybe that's something they always ask?
I think they always ask that. Many many people celebrate events at Disney. I think they even asked us that when we checked into our resort.
And yes, we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and it was our younger DD's 5th birthday. I think it's hit or miss what they will do with that information. DD got a cupcake with her meal on her birthday, plus she got balloons in the room. We didn't get anything for our anniversary (which was fine - the trip itself was our gift to each other). Sometimes these threads deteriorate into "they got XXXX and we got nothing" and people feel entitled to something special because they hear what others got.
Last time we went, we were celebrating younger DD's 9th birthday, and beyond her birthday button, we didn't get anything special, although we didn't have ADR's on her birthday that time.
(and yeah, her birthday falls during the school break when we can go...and it's not an issue with our older DD. )
