What will you celebrate at DL during 2009?

WOW!!! There are some really great things being celebrated at DL in the next 12 months.

I hope everyone enjoys their trips to the fullest!!

We were already planning to be at WDW in March, 2009 for my birthday when the announcment for the 2009 promotion was made by Disney. The promotion is the reason we selected DL for our August trip as we will now be celebrating my DH's 50th birthday at DL.

Does anyone else think the free fast pass for the day is a better deal than the free admission? I know for my birthday we'll be selecting the free fast pass as I have an AP for WDW. In August though, we don't have APs for DL. I wonder if they'd let us pay for admission and take the fast pass instead as DH's "gift?"

How fun to be able to utilizethe promotion at both parks!

You asked about paying for admission and taking the FP instead for your DH. I think they will allow this IF he has a multi-day pass that is already in progress on his birthday. Part of the promo rules state: "If you are an Annual Passholder or already have a Multi-Day ticket you will use on your birthday, go ahead and register and bring the free admission on your birthday confirmation and proper ID to the ticket booth so you can choose from one of our other exciting birthday gifts instead. (see FAQs for details)." The "or already have a multi-day ticket you will use on your birthday" part is your key, as I read it.

That said, I don't know if a FastPass to "certain attractions" is worth the price of admission to me, but that's an individual judgment I suppose.

We will be celebrating at DL in April my teenage son's milestone of 2 years cancer free!
Truly a great celebration! Way to go Ink!

I was reading your post again, and I was actually a bit confused about something, however I believe I understand now. So you will already have a ticket for Dl. correct? In which case, you most certainly can ask for the special fast pass, or anyone of the other alternative gifts. If I have your question wrong, please let me know. Thank you

Yes, we'll already have tickets. But they won't be APs. I thought the additional options besides free admission were only for those people who had APs.

Hmmmm... we were planning on using 10 day parkhoppers from WDW and converting them daily to DL admission (read about being able to do that on other threads.) The problem is that you can convert and get a single day admission so I'm not sure if that then qualifies as a multi day ticket for purposes of the promotion.

Ah, ok. In that case, my guess would be no. :guilty: (sorry)

You are correct about the process with WDW Park Hoppers. They will exchange them for DL park entrance 1 day at a time. Therefore, you would not have a multi-day pass. So, my best read of the rules is that your DH will get free admission on his birthday, not the FP, because when the day starts, he does not yet have park admission.

MAN! Close, but no cigar! LOL!

BOO! There should be a thumbs down emoticon!

Man! We NEED to plan a trip around the same time, we always miss each other!

You are so right!!!! :( It makes me sad that we miss each other every time!!! Maybe I'll just plan an early May and a late May trip. LOL

I am ever so much hoping to celebrate my birthday in April at Disneyland. As well as finally having a better job, and losing the 30+ pounds that I did not lose by my trip time this past August. Those are several of my main goals. I still have a great deal of my work cut out for me. So therefore, if one is so inclined, please wish me the best of luck, for I most definitely need it.

Thank you :)

Good Luck Gisele!! I hope you can make it for your birthday in April!!! :)

Oh WOW! That's the BEST trip reason I've heard yet!! Congrats to you!

I don't know about that tho, I would ask at the gates, it would seem to me that they would rather give the special FP because that costs them nothing. My question would be if the FP is good for everyone in your group? Because if not, what's the point? kwim?

Yes, the FP is good for everyone in the group up to a certain number. I don't remember exactly what that number is though.

We will be celebrating our triplets 7th birthday! It is a surprise. They think they will be visiting their aunts, uncles and cousins. I would love to go for my hubby's bd, mother's day, nephews and neices birthdays, sisters birthdays, my birthday, and to see the decorations for halloween, thanksgiving and christmas.
I am saying a special prayer for everyone on the board for their trips to come true.
:goodvibes

My son, who is 10, and has a disease that is likely going to take him from us during his childhood......so we are celebrating the fact that he is 10!!

...it is also our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I am so happy you are able to celebrate having 10 years together. I hope your trip is a wonderful experience and creates many memories for your family!! :wizard:

Also, Happy Anniversary! :lovestruc 20 years is a milestone - congratulations on reaching that mark.

If I were in your situation I would be very confident that you could take the admission, fun card (giftcard good for that day for merchandise in the amount of a one day one park admission), or FPs.

If DL is anything like WDW, that fast past is worth its weight in gold to us as a huge timesaver.

I *might* take the FP at WDW, but I doubt I would at DLR.

I think they just specify "multi-day admission" because they know it would be utterly ridiculous to sit there and buy a ticket then get the fun pass for the same amount.

Of course I don't know, but that's what I would be thinking if I were in your shoes.

Wish List for this year.

a couple days of the ladies only trip in early March.

trip with family in late March over hubby's b'day, ending with seeing my family while my half sis is at a cheer convention.

son's b'day in May.

my b'day in October (though honestly I hope we can swing a WDW trip for that...want to go there so bad!).

I'm so sorry about your DS. :sad1:

Congrats on 20 years together, that is a wonderful milestone to hit! :goodvibes

We are celebrating my sister's 14th birthday, my first year done at college, and my parent's 26th anniversary.

Do any of you know what I should do for a leap year birthday? My DH b-day is 2/29, but he doesn't get a b-day day this year. We celebrated his 9th last year......:rotfl2: Anywhoo, I wonder if disney would let him get the ticket on the 28th or 3/1, his i.d. says 2/29..... We would love to go on his b-day weekend. Thanks.

My mom and I are going in March on the ladies trip so that will be a celebration of sorts to just get away without the kids and husbands and enjoy a trip by ourselves for once.

And then in April dh and the kids and I are going over spring break (ack I know it will be nuts but it was the only time we could go) to celebrate youngest dd's birthday.

We have gone twice during my middle daughters birthday. Never on her ACTUAL birthday but we have celebrated her birthday before because her birthday is in December and we have gone in December MANY times so we have celebrated it before. And then last February we went and celebrated my oldest's birthday so we have been promising my youngest that we would take HER and since her birthday is on the 27th the only way we could work it was to go during spring break. It stinks that she won't be able to go on her ACTUAL birthday but that was the only way we could make it happen.

We will still have fun though. I am going to book a day at Goofy's kitchen and special order a cake and maybe even try to book the bibbity bobbidi boutique if it is open by then. So we are looking forward to that.

And then we hopefully will go back one more time in 09 around Christmas time just because. No celebration but just to see the resort during the holidays.
