What will they do with the ducks

Have a fire sale on 'turkey' legs? :rolleyes1

Sorry. Too easy.

I'm betting the ducks are not actually DL owned. I'm sure they just fly in because there is water. So, when the water is gone-they'll just fly out. Once it's filled again, I'm betting more ducks will appear :)

We have lots of ducks around here....

oh, I didn't know it was due to be drained again.
They have drained in the past to repair and maintain the mechanism the boats ride on as well as the gas lines for Fantasmic!
They let it go for many many years before they did a big drain and fix session before the 50th, I read that it will be on a regular schedule now but don't recall the timeline of the frequency.

Well if they fill up the lagoon in DCA they will probably go over there. We have ducks that live in the ponds at the various appartment complexes. Every summer they must drain and clean because all summer there are ducks wondering around our neighborhood. Many people feed and put out small kiddy pools for them. Then one day they are just gone. I guess the water is back and they go home. They will figure it out

I'm sure the ducks will be fine when they drain the RoA. There will still be water around for them, just not in the River. :)

They are draining it in Jan I believe, so they can work on the tracks and gas lines for F!, as the PP remembered. :)

Thanks! I was curious about where they would go since there are so many of them.

:scared1: about the turkey leg sale :rotfl:

Word is that the RoA will be drained from Jan to May.

Disney is very cautious about it's ducks! Cast members have stopped crowds and redirected traffic if they find that a family of ducks are on the move. It's happened to me twice and I get a kick out of it. :rotfl:

I'm sure they'll be alright.

One of the duck poo on me once. while I was standing to watch Remember Dream come true fireworks. I was so pissed that I left the park right away to go home and take a shower.

Do you think I could have gotten anything, If i went to City Hall.

What exactly would you want for being hit by duck stuff?? I doubt if you would get anything for that.

When we were at WDW, I saw several people "hit" by seagulls - it is just a consequence of being outdoors, where wild birds live. It might be different if they brought the ducks in on purpose, but those ducks are primarily wild mallards that came on their own.

I got hit really bad one work morning while I was in a rush hanging laundry out (at home) on a clothesline, looking up - "SPLAT" right on my forehead and dripping down on my dress! Ay yi yi - had to change everything. It was a dove that got me there. :rotfl2:

It is annoying at the time, isn't it? - sorry that happened to you!.

Sorry that happened to you, but isn't it supposed to be a sign that good luck is coming your way if you get hit by bird poo? ;) I've had that happen to me once before and it sucks, but it is part of life when outdoors it can happen to anyone.

Maybe a washcloth or a wipe? :rolleyes1 Do we really want to go there? It will open up a whole can of worms. Disney doesn't own the ducks;they are wild animals and Disney can't control nature from taking its course. It's unfortunate, but true...

We'll be sure to put our decoy duck in the spa - maybe we can harbor a duck or two while the river is out of service. :fish:

Where do ducks go when they drain the Rivers of America? Don't you worry your pretty little head about it. Ducks know where to go. They can take care of themselves.

Ducks are the ultimate creatures. They can swim AND fly. Take that, penguins! They are too dignified to hang around garbage dumps like rats the way seagulls do. They make a delightful quacking sound. They are magnificently duck-shaped. They have webbed feet. Their babies are absolutely adorable.

I wouldn't exactly say that ducks spit on your concern for them, because that would imply that ducks care what you think. They don't, because they know they are better than humans. Are you eating something tasty? Then break off a piece and give it to a duck. That's all they want you for. They don't need your fake rivers. They don't care if you're standing right below them when they poop. They're ducks, and they'll take care of business duck-style.

I like ducks.

:rotfl::lmao:

I like them too. My interest was purely academic, as I know they will be okay on their own; I just wondered if they flew away somewhere or just sort of hung out until the water came back :goodvibes. We actually have a creek and a pond on our property so I see plenty of ducks, but I am in a rural area. I have noticed that some of the water birds here no longer leave because they have it so good. Wondered if the Disney ducks felt the same way and what they did when the water was gone.

Honestly, I've wondered about the ducks at DLR also. But I figure that my curse is not to have been born a duck, and as part of that curse I'll just have to wonder how the ducks go about living the dream. It's a duck thing, I wouldn't understand.

So true. Although I'm sure it takes some of the luster off a DL duck's existence not to be able to bounce around in the wake of the steamship, I imagine it's not something they'll slit a....a leg over. Hopefully they don't wear out their welcome by moving on to neighborhood pools or something. But as you said, you and I can only sigh over the capriciousness of Mother Nature in gifting some with being ducks and others with being human...

I'm surprised at you guys....where will the ducks go? They'll go to Donald's house of course! :goodvibes
