What will the new MK parade be?

I'm going to the parks in Feb 2017 and I see there is no nighttime parade listed at all now. Do we have word on what the new parade will be and when? I've been slacking on keeping up on my parks info! My last Disney trip was an Alaskan cruise, so I switched gears there for a while! Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Not a dumb question. A night parade in the MK is generally expected in terms of entertainment in the parks. But nothing has been announced. I'm guessing they are moving some of that budget to AK for a while for the premiere of Rivers of Light.

I think the general feeling is there might be a year without a night parade if not longer. but there is also the feeling that they have something new coming and needed the warehouse space to store it so they don't end up with another spectral magic situation and need to throw out the parade after the weather kills the floats.

i'm kind of mixed on what I feel because there is also road work happening in that corner that might be enough room for a new land to get added to MK in time for the 50th anniversary.

There's no indication that there will be one.

Doesn't mean there won't be one. But it doesn't mean there will. And it does not sound like WDW is planning for one anytime soon.

I don't know the story of what happened with Spectral Magic? I always wondered where the floats for MSEP are stored. I know they keep the floats for the water parade on Seven Seas Lagoon out in the elements in a little water "alley", you can see it from the monorail (maybe the Epcot one, I forget)

Spectromagic. What has been reported is the floats were damaged by mold while in storage. They have been destroyed :-(

I would think it's highly unlikely there will be a night parade in February...but maybe there will be something that hasn't been announced yet. As it stands now I'm just hoping there's one for when I make my return trip sometime in 2018!

I don't expect it will be too long before MK announces a new nighttime parade, but I don't know if it will debut before February. I'd expect more of a spring/early summer window - bear in mind that is purely a guess on my part. There has been no announcement and no information. I would bet they will get some form of Paint the Night, seeing as it's so popular and brilliant.

edited: The barges for that show are designed to be out in the water so they are minimal. Spectral magic was moved out of the warehouse and thats what I understand is the ultimately reason they were destroyed/sold as scrape but not sure how accurate this is (see next post)

Keys to the Kingdom actually goes to these warehouses as part of the tour.

Spectro floats were destroyed a couple of years before FoF floats arrived at the Production Center. A lot of the mechanicals from Spectro were used to "rebuild" some of the MSEP floats.

oh wow. I had no idea that Spectro was destroyed. What a shame. I wish I known that I'd never see it again when I saw it the last time

I know people say we should vote with our dollars when Disney disappoints us and takes away stuff (and I know that's not the topic specifically here, but it's been said many times before and I was just mulling this over). And my family is really disappointed about Electrical Parade in particular. But we planned the trip 11 months ago and even made our dining reservations before the announcement was made. So, I'm supposed to plan a year in advance and get the family excited about the trip and then cancel it when Disney changes their minds/schedules/activities? Sigh. I'm not wanting to stir the pot, but just express my sadness. Oh, the whole thing just disappoints me.

^^^ I agree, it is very disappointing. We booked our trip at the beginning of the year and all along, I had been excited about the night parade. It's at the top of my list!
