What will in-room sitter do while DS sleeps?

We are debating getting a sitter for one night of our trip to WDW in May for DS, who will be 3 1/2. Here's my question - he goes to bed pretty early (7:30), which is the whole reason DH and I are thinking about a sitter - so we can have a later night out to enjoy a nice dinner and evening out at Downtown Disney or somewhere like that. Here's my question - if DS goes to bed at 7:30, what on earth will the sitter do then? We just have one room at Polynesian. DH and I are planning to hang out on the balcony til he's sound asleep and then maybe watch movies (although even that may not work if he's not sleeping soundly enough . . .), but I think it feels weird to ask a sitter to do that. DS normally sleeps with the light off so I'm not entirely sure he'd fall asleep if she even just read a book or something until he fell asleep. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Hmmm... not sure about that. :confused3 We had 2 connecting rooms when we went last so it wasn't an issue while ds15months slept. Have you tried calling one of the services? I would suspect they've had this issue come up before. We used Kid's Nite Out http://www.kidsniteout.com/svcs_sitter.aspx and had a really good experience with them.

Maybe read a book with a book light or watch a movie on a portable DVD player with headphones?

When we had an in-room sitter, she was a college student and brought study materials. DS was in the bed closest to the bathroom, and she was at the table with the light on. DS was so beat he had no problem sleeping, even with the light on.
