Has anyone driven lately in a Ford Expedition?

We are driving first from Northern NJ first time in the Ford Expedition and were wondering what to budget for gas. Thanks.

P.S. - Any traffic hot spots?

I have an SUV, but it's an Acura MDX, so my gas mileage may be better than yours. We drove last summer, with no traffic, and averaged approx 21 MPG. It cost us approx $250 in gas to get down and back, but I have to use Premium gas in my car. This might give you an idea on what gas might cost.

Don't know about the gasoline prices you'll encounter, but DH and I both drive Expeditions, and get around 16 mpg. (They both have the bigger V8, so you could get slightly better mileage if you have the V6.)

Mapquest says it's 1100 miles from Bayonne to Kissimmee, so that's 69 gallons of gas.

The current average price for gasoline for the Mid-Atlantic area is $1.67 (I got this from this website , and it sounds reasonable...)

So it looks like you'll run around $115 for gasoline each way.

I would budget $250 for fuel. Yes, the traffic hot spot is DC area. Just read the thread for suggestions, but I wouldn't want to drive through during the morning or evening rush hours.
