What were your holiday hits and flops?

Still using my FarberWare pots and pans that i received as an engagement gift in 1975.
For the record, they were inexpensive Calphalon non-stick pots and pans that had the coating flake after 11 years of heavy use and not always hand washing. I would have felt terribly greedy registering for anything more expensive since where we live the typical wedding shower gift is under $40.

Lots of hits!

DD12 loves the white Converse sneakers that Santa brought her, mom would never get anything so impractical ;) DS has been staging non-stop nerf wars. We've worked lots of puzzles, and they are stealing each others Star Wars socks. DH loves his new Kindle and the Star Wars Christmas shirt (Darth Vader Santa flying a sleigh pulled by AT-AT's to the death star). The surprise hit was Lego and Tsum Tsum advent calendars. We all really enjoyed these.

Flops: DS 4wd remote control truck has a battery life of 12 minutes, then takes 5 hours to recharge. DD got a nice silver charm bracelet, but I must not have read the sizes on some of the charms I ordered. One is tiny, and two were too big, but they make great necklaces! Not too bad considering I was sick the whole month and did all of my shopping online! :surfweb:

Hit: Japanese Soft Drinks called Ramune that has the marble in them.

I bought 24 (two 12-packs) of Ramune for my DS15. His siblings keep drinking them too so there are only a few left. It's a novelty thing so not sure I would buy more as they are expensive for a soft drink, but they enjoyed trying the different flavors. I did google and see World Market carries them and they are currently building a World Market in a nearby shopping center so I might pick up a few when I go shopping there, but wouldn't order online again.

Misses: None as I didn't buy filler gifts.

Do you have an Asian supermarket near you? They tend to carry Ramune for cheaper than anywhere else. I've seen it at H-Mart and Lotte Plaza. It's not any cheaper than World Market, but I've also seen it in the international food aisles at Wegmans.

The biggest hit we've found so far for us has been the moviepasses I got for me and my daughters.

We've used them to pay for 13 movie admissions so far between the 3 of us. At $10/movie, we're already over halfway to breaking even on their cost in just the 7 days since they received them. And we have 358 more days to go,

The 3 of us went to see Pitch Perfect... then the funny thing is, we all went to see the Greatest Showman and all loved it so much that I've now seen it 3 times, younger dd has seen it 3 times, and older dd has seen it 4 times.

I would never have spent the money to see the same movie that many times in a theater, but since it's now "free", it's been awesome. I'm actually enjoying it more each time I go see it. Older dd wants to go again with me tomorrow if they have a snow day, :P

Hits: Switch, the bike, and that annoying fingerling

Misses: My Pier One table still hasn’t come and the Pier One store we bought it from told
us it’s the fault of the shipping company and they don’t have to help us track it down. I’m waiting for corporate to call us back.
