What we should make sure we pack with a 2 year old

We got the potty seat at Wal-mart, but I have also seen them at Target and Babies R Us. DD was 2 yrs 10 mths on our WDW trip. Although she had been going on the potty here and there for quite a while, she was not consistent. We encouraged going on the potty and the Elmo potty DVD got her really interested in it (and I think helped quite a bit), but that was all we did. We purposely decided not to go full force on potty training until we got back from WDW because we did not want to have to deal with running to find a potty or accidents. We wanted to just be able to change a pull-up whereever. Imagine our surprise when 3 weeks before the trip she suddenly refused to pee anywhere except on the potty. We did wind up making a couple of mad dashes to find a potty at WDW (or to retrieve the potty seat from the stoller), but not one accident! Good luck!

anyone know where to find the dish soap washcloths or wipes? I haven't seen them anywhere. I can just bring a little home dish soap and a brush if I can't find them but they sound so convenient!

We got them at Walmart and at Target but that was 3 years ago. I haven't looked for them since then so I don't know if they still have them.

Awesome thread! We are planning on taking DD for her 2nd Birthday this Sept to Oct.

I have a question. We have a Graco Quattro Tour and a Maclarent Quest stroller. They both recline but only the Graco goes completely flat. It is obviously bigger. Which stroller do you think would be better to take? We always use Disney transportation and the Graco is pretty big heavy but the Mac doesn't hold as much stuff. I do however have a saddle bag for the mac which helps.

I would say take the Maclaren if, and only if, you use the two strollers interchangably. But, if the Graco is the one your DD is most used to, you should bring that. You want her to be as comfortable as she can be so when she gets sleepy she'll take a nap.

Take a small sponge or two and pour your dish soap on it and let it dry. Cut into a few small pieces and pack in a ziplock. No need to take liquid soap! My DMIL cut some for us last time we went in the shape of a Mickey head. We washed out DS' cups and spoons once back at the hotel room. You can also find Huggie washclothes that work the same way at Target.

Disposable sippy cups.
We took these for both our kids (18months/4yr) last april and they were great. If they lose them no worries or if they get funky just pitch it.
We got them at our at our local grocery store.

What a GREAT idea!!! Last year I took a whole bottle of dish soap what a hassle. I will do this for our May trip.

Does the fold up potty seat work alone, or does it sit on a potty? We were thinking of something similar, with only one potty in the resort room, but her potty is just too big! Sorry to hijack!

The fold up potty seat sits on the existing toilet, with a smaller opening so kids don't fall in. They do sell pop-up potties for travel onesteapahead.com maybe? These are stand alones.

Instead of bringing the whole container of powdered formula or multiple "dry bottels" to the park, I am pre-scooping the powder into breast milk storage bags and just dumping them into the bottle as needed and mixing it with my bottled water. This way its less to carry and they are already pre measured. It is also a lot cheaper then the ones they sell at walmart.

Some of the things that I couldn't have done without on our trip with our little one were:

-Sanihands wipes... they come in a box ( avail. at Babies R Us and other places) and I used them for wiping tables, all of our hands, wiping the grimy high chairs, etc. They had lots of great uses and I'm a germ freak!

- a couple small bath toys that she could also bring to the pool, kid friendly sunscreen. Those sunscreen sticks are good for the face!

- HATS, bring a few with wide brims to shade their eyes, and they do get sweaty, so bring a couple so you have backups if one needs to dry of be washed out.

- her crocs, but don't forget to sunscreen the feet! She threw up one day all over her shoes and I just tossed them in the sink with soap and wahlah! She also wore her tennis shoes, but the crocs were so versatile from water to rain to dry to pool to park, etc.

- We had a lot of things delivered to WL from Garden Grocer, so that we eased up on packing since we were flying. I brought swim diapers since we didn't need many, but ordered regular diapers and wipes. I brought 2 or 3 sippy cups, brought a sponge but ordered the dish soap.

- We ordered milk, yogurt, fruit and fruit cups, and her fave snacks so that we could eat some in the room and pack some to bring.

-Snack cups (like someone mentioned the snack trap.) I always bring ziploc's everywhere in a couple sizes, you always find SOMETHING to use them for... like for a wet outfit when at a park or an outfit that got ice cream all over it, etc. Until you get back to wash it out...

- Whatever they sleep with at home, if there is a specific animal, blanket, music that you can bring... very helpful

- We brought a MacClaren which did recline some, she did fine in it. Frankly I think they are so tired, they dont need to lay flat to sleep!

- Be prepared with an extra outfit wherever you go, standard with little ones, but easy to forget on vacation with everything else you have to remember. I packed twice as much clothes wise for her as I did for my husband and I, we did not have a washer or dryer and I didn't know what to expect with her going through clothes in the heat. I think with little ones it's better to be overprepared!

Have fun!

(The small silverware is a great tip too!)

great ideas here, esp love the sponge one! I just wanted to second the stroller shade extender. I think the one we have is the Ray Shade and it's awesome, it even works on an infant carseat. Don't forget something colorful to tie on your stroller. I used a pink bandana to tie on my Maclaren so we could find it in the sea of other dark colored Macs! I also love the tip of buying the Capri Sun juices or flavored water in the pouches--if you have a fridge you can freeze them solid and use them as your ice packs and then once they defrost some you have another drink too. I also packed a couple trash bags (big and small) in the bottom of my Mac in case of rain and to put my DSLR in when raining or on water rides. The mesh Mac bag is great to keep all that wipes, trash bags, etc in. We'd also unpack anything we didn't want to carry around but didn't worry about getting stolen (like extra clothes) and then just bring our Skip Hop w/necessities and cameras into attractions.
