What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

We were on Dylan's Wish Trip and he had decided that rides were not for him so I carried on to Pirates alone. He and his father went to meet the Captain :thumbsup2 GREAT ! Later as Dilly spoke of his encounter, he tells me that the Captain is a pirate ! A real pirate ! " I didn't have my sword mom, So I kicked him!":headache:

Not a bad experience, but on our recent trip we had breakfast at CRT and my sister-in-law's boyfriend (who hadn't cared about the characters at all) insisted on a pic with Snow White when she came by. It turns he thought she had a tattoo on her chest and he wanted to see if it was true....it was

LOL... Snow White's edgier side! :lmao: :lovestruc

Goofy didn't act like himself last week in EPCOT at the character greet-he kinda just pulled my son in for a pic & then pushed him away-I sort of felt bad b/c we waited in that line just for Goofy! Oh well....maybe he was ready to get done for the day!!!

Aladdin in epcot. End of september 2009, he was with jasmine. DD got up to see them and his voice was horrible!! You could tell he was trying to make himself have a really deep voice and it was not working out to well. I had to fight myself from cracking up. Later than night we met up with our friends, they asked us if we had seen aladdin and jasmine, they totally thought his voice was creepy as well.
AT PSB Mulan kinda yelled at DS, it was in a playful way, but i wont ever forget it.

i went in decemeber. and i love peter pan and it was the first time i have met him. so when its my turn to get a picture with peter and wendy i tell him how he's my favorite character. He doesnt say a word and just turns for the picture. lets just say i was disappointed

THIS IS THE MOST HYSTERICAL THREAT EVER!
I just hate when people wait on line and they take the character away
little Alice said "oh I need some tea" to 20 people tahy all wanted to smack her!
They should shut the line off at a certain point

They do. If the character is not coming back right away, the attendant closes off the line (or is supposed to, anyway). However, there are times when the character leaves for a few minutes to get a snack, and comes right back out. The attendant is also supposed to let the line know that they will be right back out.

Well said.....

There are also times when our friends have to leave unexpectedly and quickly.

My experience was with Peter Pan's handler. It was in MK and we were at least 40 feet from the handler and PP. The line was long and I was going to take a picture. Somehow the handler saw me and positioned herself to block me from seeing PP. It was odd and at first I thought it was accidental. I'd move to my left and right and she would look over her shoulder to see where to move to block my shot.

I'd understand if I were close by and it appeared to be a situation where I was cutting in line by getting my picture when others were waiting but I was on the other side of the street and nobody (except the handler) knew I was even taking a picture. I had a good zoom and the crowds were low so I could see Peter Pan well. I'm sure that running safety for the characters is very hard and can test your nerves so I wrote it off to her having a bad day.

I think they do this to keep people not with a certain child from taking pictures of the child. They don't know that with your zoom you are only photographing the character, and not the child.

I'd just be interested to hear about your character experiences that you'd rather forget. Was a character ever rude, boring, a waste of time, etc. Are there certain characters you wouldn't waste your time on again?

Actually the only bad character greeting was at Goofys Kitchen in Disneyland. My dh and I had taken two of our grandkids their for their 4th birthday for dinner and Goofy was not happy being Goofy that night. We are always polite and respectful of the characters but this guy was not in a good mood. When I called to complain (which is something I NEVER do) the cast member said "How is that you are aware if Goofy was being rude?". I explained to her that his body action was horrible. Needless to say I was very dissappointed but we have been to many -tooooo many to count-- character meals and that is the only bad expierence. It was just sad it had to be in front of my grandkids.

the "creepy peter pan" was the same one that was there in december when i went. He was my favorite character in disney (out of 23 characters)
He talked to me for a good 5 minutes, and wasn't rushed or creepy at all. :confused3 I showed my mom the picture of the "creepy" one, and she laughed because i haven't stopped talking about how good he was haha.

The Ariel at ariel's grotto when i was there wasn't good at all, the whole place seemed to be rushed.
And the snow white in Epcot was weird.

We didn't really have any bad character experiences, and I didn't notice anything on our trip. When I got home and reviewed the pics I was mortified.

In every picture DD5's hand was right on the characters chest! It wasn't so bad in the male character photos, but in some of the female character photos (Tnkerbell in particular) she looks like she is groping them. How could I not have noticed? How often do these poor women get groped by children?

Here is the Peter Pan we loved:

We booked a bounceback on our May trip and just got back from our Christmas trip. DD of course wanted to see Peter Pan again. I was a little leery because we hit a different looking Peter this time, but he was great too. She was running around because she was so excited to see him so he put his arms out and started running around "flying" with her. It was so cute!! I actually saw a couple of pictures that some people had taken of Terrance in Pixie Hollow while we were there (we missed him- we ran into Silvermist and Rosetta instead), and he looked suspiciously like the Peter Pan from our last trips.

OMG! We had this same Peter Pan and he was awesome. We did the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage and he was the Peter Pan Meet & Greet at the end of the trip. He sat on the ground and chatted with DD for 5 minutes - you could tell the people behind us were getting a little impatient.

DD was so excited and told Peter that we were going to see Tink the next day at Pixie Hollow. Peter told DD to "tag" Tink for him as they were playing a game of tag. DD was so thrilled to be included in the special game of tag with Peter and Tink. When she met Tink the next day she told Tink and tagged her for Peter. Tink of course played along.

DD can't wait to see Peter again this year - I guess I better make sure we get the same one.

I will never forget my father trying to get my picture with Goofy when I was 10. We were in Epcot and there were a ton of really little kids trying to get their picture with Goofy. My father kept yelling at me.."Go on, get in the picture!" I was so embarrassed. He wanted me to basically knock over the other kids and push my way up front. I walked away and got yelled at for it.

My dad is really passionate about Disney and he's one of those run-to-the-front kinds of people. I remember that one time he ran and jumped over the bench to get into the movie in China...and we were the only people there. He's always got to be first.

When I was 15 I went with my parents and nieces to Disney World - and we had breakfast on the steam boat - not sure the name - this was about 19 years ago!

Anywho - Goofy (for some reason) developed a weird attraction to me and wouldn't leave me alone the entire time we tried to eat breakfast. My parents thought it was hilarious - but at 15, the last thing I wanted was a room full of strangers gawking at me.

So breakfast is over, we head off the ship and from behind, I hear Goofy running after me. He catches up to us, grabs my hand, then gets down on one knee, like he's proposing. I thought I was going to DIE....I was so embarassed.

My mom still makes reference to Goofy having a "thing" for me...funny now, but at 15 - not so much! I was horrified!

The only bad experience I have ever had was at 'Ohana breakfast this past September (BTW other than this experience I have ALWAYS had fabulous character interaction here).
At the beginning of the breakfast my waitress overheard me tell my DBF how excited I was to see Stitch (he's my favorite!) and she was wonderful and said to make sure we flag her down when Stitch gets close so she could take our picture.
Stitch came, the waitress took our pic (she has been at our table already), and Stitch literally just walked away! My autograph book was out and I didn't get a signature. He didn't play around or anything. The waitress was a little embarrased and said that she was going to bring him back but I said just let it be.
I saw the same Stitch lightly push (push is a strong word...I can't think of a better word) a little girl off of him when he was trying to get away from her. Granted the parents should have been paying attention to what she was doing but there was no reason for Stitch to be so mean!
I guess everyone has bad days, even Disney characters!

We had a rude Pooh at Crystal Palace - it's still a family joke. The Day Mom Infuriated Pooh!

I had made personalized autograph books for my boys on colored cardstock. The only pen that showed up nicely was a fat Sharpie. In the meantime, my DH had ordered me a gift basket for our anniversary and inside it had a Tinkerbell autograph book and pen. I loved it! I have never collected signatures and it was a goofy once-in-a-lifetime thing for me. Now, the fat Sharpie bled through the pages of the Tinkerbell book. Two pens were necessary.

So ... long story longer ... I had to ask the characters to change pens to do all 4 books. Pooh was CLEARLY angry and rushed when I handed my book and pen, shaking his/her head and stomping his/her foot then THREW the book on the table where it landed on the baby's plate and splattered all over him. Then, Pooh stomped away.

No other character had made us feel like it was inconvenient though many face characters had told me how adorable the handmade books were.

I'm betting all the time. My then 2 year old DD totally groped Cinderella at Akershus on her 1st WDW trip. She was so excited to see Cinderella for the 1st time that she just threw herself at her and grabbed whatever she could get her hands on. I was pretty mortified. Cinderella just kind of got a non-Cinderella look on her face and shoved her hand off, and then went right back to being sweet Cinderella. She did leave our table pretty quickly. Not a bad character experience for us, but it probably was for Cinderella! Luckily since Cinderella was DD's favorite character we had a completely magical meeting with her later in the week in Toontown.

Not a specific rude meeting, but we have found that in general we have better experiences with the characters we meet in the parks then the ones we meet at the character meals. This goes for Princesses, Pooh and Friends, Mickey and friends, all of them. We actually book very few character meals now because of the rushed and impersonal interaction.
