Ok...again kind of lame but we had NO money when we were growing up so my mom (who was single mom) did her best to scratch and save and when I was 19 I got to go to Disney for the first time in an excellent hotel.

My first ride that I remember was Spaceship Earth...I have never seen anything like that before, it was the coolest thing knowing I was inside the Epcot Ball and how you can see the advancements we were going through. I always make it a priority to ride that ride!

What about you guys any good stories you wanna share?

You know what? I can't remember! I know the first park I went to was MK, but I have no idea what ride was first. Probably It's a Small World? I do have clear memories of the first time I rode Tower of Terror and Rock 'n Rollercoaster though. I went with a friend, and she was scared to ride almost everything, so I had to ride a lot by myself or with her dad, lol!

Fun thread topic! pixiedust:

My first rides (from my memory) were It's A Small World and Dumbo.
A memory I have (from mid to late 70's) is from when I was about 9 and my brother was 5. Our parents were both educators and got us in line for Space Mountain. They thought it was an 'educational' ride (lol - were we in for a surprise). We stood in line for a LONG time. When we got inside, we started to see signs such as 'if you have a heart condition or are pregnant, you should not ride this ride' ... but by this point, my parents decided we had been in line for so long that we might as well experience what was ahead! Needless to say, my mother and brother screamed the whole ride, which just caused my dad and I to laugh louder lol. My dad is in his 70's now and takes DD's and I to Disney every year. He still loves thrill rides and we always remember back and giggle about that 'educational' ride on Space Mountain:-)
Thanks for starting this thread and giving me a great childhood memory of my family.

Alien Encounter!!!!!

I had no clue what Disney would be like other than the commercials and the old super 8 films my parents made when I was a baby. We visited right after Tomorrowland was renovated in the early 90's and my mom wanted to see that first. Alien Encounter blew my mind. I remember thinking that if the rest of WDW was that awesome I never wanted to go home. And of course it was.

I can remember the last night we were there riding the monorail back to the hotel. I happened to look out the window during the Kiss Goodnight. I didn't know what it was and never shared that moment with anyone else for a long time. It was something special just for me.

I really can't remember my first ever ride. On my first trip in 1999 with a couple of friends, the only rides I have any recollection of are Splash Mountain (loved it!) and Space Mountain (not a big fan). I also remember walking through the castle and thinking, "This is it?" (LOL), and I have pictures from both the afternoon parade and Spectro. So I'm really not sure what we did besides those 5 things, though certainly during a whole day in the MK, we did more than that, right?

On our first family trip in 2011, we did Peter Pan first. I've loved it ever since.

ETA: OH, reading the post above, Alien Encounter is the only other ride I remember from the '99 trip. And that was freaking terrifying!

Mine was POTC back in 1985 ( I was 13). I've been back 5 times since and I stil make it my first ride of the trip every time.

I remember two rides my first time at MK in '76. Dumbo and Space Mountain. I remember we waited what seemed like hours in line for Dumbo. But Space Mountain was really cool and so "modern". :bitelip: I wanted to ride it over and over again, but we never had enough tickets back in those days. :sad1:

My first ride was in 1977 on It's a Small World, and then 20,000 leagues. I still ride Small World every time I'm there, just to remember the first time I was on it, and the special lady who took me there.

I will go further back and say that the first Disney rides i went on were at the 64/65 New York Worlds Fair. Then when parents moved us to Florida is was not to long after DW opened.

My first Disney park experience was a family trip to Disneyland when I was probably 8, almost 9. I don't remember my first ride, but I remember being totally in love with Small World and riding multiple times. Like the PP, I still love to ride Small World - good memories!

My first trip to WDW was as an adult with my sister in 1999. We had dinner at Epcot on our arrival night, but no rides. Our first park morning was at MK, and I'm pretty sure our first ride was either Splash or BTMRR (with the other one being second). My biggest memory from that morning, though, is riding Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin for the first time - we got off, took one look at each other, and said "Let's go again!" Nothing like a bit of healthy sibling rivalry!

NY World's Fair for me too. Small World, Carousel of Progress, Mr. Lincoln (precursor to Hall of Presidents).
Magic Kingdom, November 1971 - first ride Haunted Mansion.

1976 Space Mountain when I was 8....I remember waiting forever in the long line the ride scared the pants off of me :scared1:

My first disney ride was Tower of Terror! My parents pulled my sister and I out of school in grade 7 (we're twins) and took us to WDW in October 1997. Our first park day my dad made us swear we'd ride rides and then following an unofficial guide touring plan took us right over to ToT. It was amazing and I loved how into character all the CMs were. I took my husband to disney for our first real trip other than visiting family and made it his first ever disney ride too! When my sister and I took a girls trip to Disneyland we went to DCA first so that we could make ToT our first DL ride too!

I have no idea.

My mom had a photo from my first trip--I was I the stocks near liberty square.
My first memory of any ride is It's A Small World. But I don't know if it was that one trip or one a little bit later.

NY World's Fair for me too. Small World, Carousel of Progress, Mr. Lincoln (precursor to Hall of Presidents).
Magic Kingdom, November 1971 - first ride Haunted Mansion.

Don't forget the Ford Pavilion from the World's Fair. Sort of a precursor to both Test Track and Universe of Energy.

My first ride at MK was, of course, Space Mountain. Spring break 1980.

the first time i went i was in the womb so i'd have to ask my mom if she remembers.

and to be honest i cannot remember the first ride i went on when i could remember going to disney world.
the early years sorta blend together.

i can remember the first time i went on space mountain i was 5 and i didn't realize the seats were not side by side so i decided i didn't want to go on but then my sister who was about 12 at the time said she would sit behind me so if i flew out she could catch me and somehow that made it all better lol.

and i remember that i always loved haunted mansion.
my parents always made is seem fun not scary.
i always sat with my mom and one sister and my dad and my other sister would sit behind us and my dad would always knock on our doom buggy.

and i remember the first time i went on tower of terror i was 8. thats the year it opened.
i can even tell you that i was wearing my elementary school sweatshirt.
i sat in the first row on the left as you walk in.
i sat next to the cage and i held onto my dad during the drop.

ugh i hate to remember this but the first time on body wars was the last.
my mom was a registered nurse and thought it would be an amazing attraction.
we both felt really sick. i kept saying my stomach hurts my stomach hurts and was like myine does too its ok its ok.

and i remember how awesome imageworks was.
i loved the rainbow tunnel and the pin table.

ETA: well my mom can't seem to recall what my first ride was in or out of the womb.
but of course she can remember my sister's first time when she was just under a year and they went on figment and she had her thumb in her mouth.
i guess i can't blame her for remembering my sister's first ride though since it was a day in general that my mom will never forget cuz it was the day the small plane crashed in the epcot parking lot and they were in the parking lot at the time that it happened and my mom thought for sure the parking lot would go up in flames but it did not since the reason for the crash was that the plane ran out of fuel.

I was three, so I can't remember, but I'm assuming it was Dumbo just based on who I traveled with.

There's a picture of my father and I riding Dumbo, and he often tells me that that's the only thing I wanted to ride. Apparently, I made him ride it eight times in a row before we had to leave for an ADR.
