My first, I was 13 and had an Atari 800. (@1986)

The second was my Jr. year in high school with a Commodore Amiga, WHICH WE STILL HAVE!!! lol.

How about you? Where did it all start?

DH bought a Kaypro 4 in 1984. It had 64KB RAM (yes, KB!). And no mouse! The thing was supposed to be portable (the keyboard folded up in front of the screen), but it was awfully heavy. Seems like the case was made of steel.

The next computer was a Mac 512. We stayed with Macs through a Performa or two, and then swapped to a Windows platform in the mid-90's.

My first personal computer was an Apple ][, which I bought almost 30 years ago. I recently found the receipt for it while cleaning out my files!

Wow, I feel like such a newcomer. :teeth:

My first computer was a Tandy Sensation that I bought in 1993. I loved that thing.

I got online with it right away (dialup at 900, 1200, 2400, 3200 bps anyone???) and that's when AOL was charging by the minute. Huge, expensive mistake. :rotfl2:

feel like newcomer? I'm almost embarrassed about me
We got our first computer in 1998- a Gateway

I don't remember what year but I remember we had a Commodore 64.

This is going to sound really sad. I was 2 yrs old and my grandparents bought us a Commodore 64. So yes, at the young age of 2 I was using a computer. Oh wait, did I forget to show my computer nerd card?

We also had an Atari 800.
We didn't do much with it. All I remember doing was playing Ms. Pac Man on it and also Print = Lora go to 1 and then have the screen fill up with my name.

Sometimes we would get Computing magazine and they would have these programs you could type into the computer and make a game. It would be about 10 pages of code to get some stupid game that would barely work. And my dad would never buy us the disk drive. We had to save our stuff on the cassette drive.

My dad bought me my first computer, I am going to say 1985? I was in college.
I cannot remember the name of it. It was a portable and brown, not grey.

My first computer was a Comodore Vic20. It had a tape deck to load programs!!!

DH bought our first computer in 1988 and it was a Hyundai. DS loved playing games on that thing. I think we still have it somewhere packed up.

First computer was a TI 994A, 16 K, cassette tape for saving, about 1982 or '83. First PC was an IBM PC, double floppy, no hard drive, 256 K. I know I paid about $600 to upgrade from 64 to 256 K. I had one program, word processing/database, Symantec's (before they bought Norton) Q&A, that had 11 floppies that had to be constantly swapped to run it. My first hard drive PC was a PC Limited, the name of Mike Dell's company before he changed name to Dell, back in '85. I recall upgradingfrom a 10 meg to a 20 meg HD that had just been released at the time I was ordering, cost an additional $400. Amazing how far tech has come, how inexpensive tech is.

It was an IBM 386 PC, circa 1994. Good times... :teeth:

DH got his start on the Commodore 64, purchased some time in the late 80's or early 90's by his grandfather through a special Ford employee program. I always wonder if his grandfather understand that that purchase changed DH's life forever...

tandy trs-80 with 10" floppy disks.

i remember going to *radio shack* to buy it with my dad! :goodvibes

I am a newcomer to the world of computers. We bought our first computer in 1998. It was a Compaq Presario. No bells or whistles on it. It was slow and the internet was slower. We have bought 3 computers since then and I think all 3 of them together didn't cost as much as that first one.

My first computer was an Amstrad cpc64 back in 1986 64k ram green screen monitor and integral data tape player.
My first PC was one I built in 1992 with an Intel 486 dx266, 40mb hard drive, 4mb ram and 3 1/2" floppy drive, no cd drives then; the OS was MS-DOS 6.0 and Windows 3.1

That reminds me... DH did freelance typesetting and layout in the mid-80's - which is why we bought a Mac - and he bought the first laser printer in the area. It cost --- are you ready for this? -- $6,000!

My first computer was an Apple II bought in 1978. It cost around 1200 dollars and didn't even include the monitor. Later, Apple came out with a disk drive and much later hard drives became available. Then in the 80's I bought my first Mac. My current Mac is a Powerbook G4 17" screen. It is still a Power PC chip - not the new Intel chip. I remember that the first modems were only 300 baud. We did not have the Internet, but did have BBS systems. I ran one myself.
