What was your first car?

'92 Mazda Protege (black). I drove it like it was a Porsche though - all 4 cylinders. I loved that car - so many high school and college memories.

pontiac fiero GT my first of many fieros :goodvibes I loved that car until some moron totaled it

Ooo ! Those 'mid-engine' Fiero's ? I remember those....

A friend of mine had one. NOTHING but problems ! The headlights kept getting stuck in the down mode, the electrical system was from Hades...

And somehow sitting ON TOP of that engine was very nerve-racking... :rotfl:

Oh, I remember those Fieros...they were kinda popular. Only rode in one once...going down the highway I felt like I was literally lying on the pavement. Did NOT like it.

1976 Bright Red Mustang, 4 speed, 4 cylinders. Pretty good on gas, but not much for speed. I have a 2009 Bright Red Mustang Convertable now. It's the opposite, not too great on gas, but it can move. It's a 5 speed.

A 1999 Ford Contour...I got it when it has 200,000 miles and it finally gave out on me at almost 260,000 I LOVED that car it filled up for 15 bucks!

1982 Ford Thunderbird. That thing was a tank! My dad was going to buy me a 79 camaro, but someone got it before him. What was that man thinking, considering giving a 16 yr old girl a camaro???? Although I have to say...that thunderbird did 85 and it felt like you were only going 45.

I had a brand-spankin'-new 1973 Ford Pinto Runabout. Light Blue. 4 Cylinders and $53/month for 36 payments. I got one because my dad had a '71 Pinto. They would rust like crazy. One day my dad opened his car door and it came off the car, from rust! Pictured below is not my car, just what it looked like. I traded the Pinto for a 1977 Chevy Camaro SS, 350, 8 Cylinder, 4 speed. Now that was a car!

A 1980 Volvo 240 named Maxine. She was Metallic Seafoam green with tan cloth interior and a hand crank sunroof. I LOOOOOOOVED Maxine! I wish I had kept her, but alas ...
I did frame a picture of me sitting in her before she was sold!

I had an AMC Pacer, three speed on the column shift. It was a beautiful shade of burnt orange. It looked like a fish bowl. My Dad picked it and bought it when I was 15 and we did the body work on it so it was ready by the time I got my license at 16 1/2. Great memories with my Dad but yikes, not a cool car.

1986 chevy camaro, v-6 powder blue..elcheapo model. slow and ugly. Im sure it was a repaint because one side was definitely bluer than the other..

A 1993 wine red Mazda Astina like this

First and only car I've ever bought and its still going strong.

I've had it since 1998 and don't plan to replace it any time soon. It runs on nothing and never has any faults (maybe I shouldn't have said that?). ;)

My first car has a funny story to it... It was a brand new Mazda MX6 that my father bought for his girlfriend :scared1: while married to my mom... I happened to see him at the car dealership driving it out and followed him home and "borrowed it" I did not speak to him or see him for 3 years later. :lmao: So I had a nice new ride for 3 years... He would have to fess up he bought it for his girlfriend so I got to keep it. :rolleyes1

My next car was my all time favorite a red Toyota Celica it was an awesome car!!

My first car I bought was back in 1982 when I was 18; it was a 1975 Monte Carlo. I loved that car. It was silver with a silver landau top and red interior with a 350 four barrel. :woohoo:

My second car was a 1985 Ford Mustang and since that day I have always had a Mustang in the garage.

My 1st car was a 1985 dark blue Chevy Cavalier, and it was a hand-me-down from my brother. I was so excited to have a car in college, and I also gained a lot of new "friends." :)

My first car was a 1972 Chevy Impala. This wasn't it, but it looked an awful lot like this. It was grey, not brown, and it didn't have the sign in the front windshield. ;)

It was ugly and huge and gigantic and had I mentioned ugly? My grandpa bought it for me when I turned 16 from an old lady he knew for $200. She had stored it in her barn for years and years, and it looked it. His reasoning was a) if I trashed it we were only out $200, and b) if I hit anything there was enough steel around me that I would be safe. God help whatever I ran over though. It got about 3 miles to the gallon and I used to cram 6 of my friends in it when I went anywhere so I could collect enough gas money from everyone to make the trip worthwhile. It actually did run pretty well; the old lady had taken very good care of it mechanically, and I drove it all through high school.

My boyfriend and I nicknamed it The Boat, and we did our best to Soup It Up; including crushed velvet seat covers (good grief...) shiny chrome wheels, pinstriping, window decals, and a new set of glass-pack mufflers so it sounded all cool and crackley when it downshifted. It was still grey and ugly. But it was fun. And it had a back seat the size of a living room sofa. :littleangel:

I graduated HS in 1972 and I had a lot of friends whose Dads bought them huge old cars like yours, from the '60s, and they would also call them boats. They mostly hated their cars, but it was better than the alternative -- no car! I loved your comment about loading the car with friends so you could afford the gas. Your post was so funny! :rotfl:

1981 Ford Fairmont. Baby poop yellow. I paid $100 for 10 months to my body man dad and it was all mine! Hated the darn thing. Had 3 accidents and each time I was convinced it was totaled so I could get something sportier for a 16 year old. Body man dad kept on fixing it back up for me. :confused3 I was 20 when I was finally allowed to sell it for something better. Second car to get me back and forth to college was a brown 1986 Plymouth Voyager mini van. Not exactly what I had in mind when I thought 'sportier'. It was a standard shift and I had the hardest time learning to drive it. Oh the memories.
