What was the first album you ever bought? (Or for those of the younger generation, which CD)? Mine was "News of the World" by Queen, which I bought in 6th grade. Still one of my faves. :D

mine was the Smurfs. i was in second grade. i loved them!! still do. and the tape still works. my son loves it and we listen in the car (only place i have a tape player! LOL)

Michael Jackson's Thriller. Still have it. I don't think I have anything to play it on though.

The Monkees. I was in love with Peter and then Davy beginning at the age of 3 or 4. :teeth:

Good Bye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John!...in the 7th grade I think....I still have that one...

he still is one of my Favs too...

In 1957, then I was 13 years old. Here are the songs, many classics from one of the originators of RnR...

1 Tutti Frutti
2 True Fine Mama
3 Can't Believe You Wanna Leave
4 Ready Teddy
5 Baby
6 Slippin' and Slidin'
7 Long Tall Sally
8 Miss Ann
9 Oh Why?
10 Rip It Up
11 Jenny, Jenny
12 She's Got It

And I still have it, 45 years later. :o

The first one I bought myself was Foreigner 4. I had a Leif Garrett album before that.

My first album that I remember was probably a Sesame Street one. The first one I was truelly excited about was Michael Jackson Thriller.

My favorite 8 track when I was little was Donne and Marie :)

Tamie

Browneyes & Tkyes--I loved Thriller. It was HUGE when I was a junior in high school. In fact, our school had to ban all sequined gloves, 'cause we were all wearing them (or one of them) to class!

LOL! 1 white glove and the red zipper jacket was seen everywhere at my school at the time I bought that album. I never did get into the fashion of the music. But I listened to the Thriller album a lot.:) That was when Michael was semi-normal.

My sister and I had albums 'together' - Osmond Brothers, Jackson 5, etc..

BUT my first 'very own (i think it was the summer between 6th and 7th grade) album was - DON'T LAUGH - Peter Criss's solo album!!! I saved and saved for it, and for some reason - I loved KISS, and I loved Peter Criss.
Yes, I must be the only person on the face of the earth who will actually admit that they bought it, let alone STILL HAVE IT!!

I still get a little smile run across my face when I hear the song "Beth" on the OLDIES station.

mine wasa the Partrage family, it had there bus on the cover, i had forgotten what a nerd i was

It was Endlss Summer (the Beach Boys:rolleyes: ) I was 8 or 9. That is when I first knew them... I still have the album and still love their music!

Oh Melissa! I LOVED Beth! That's my middle name, and since I could never find any songs titled Kim or Kimberly, I took that one for my own!:D

It was either Deja Vu (Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young) or In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly). I was more into 45 RPM singles so it took me a while to make the leap to albums. I remember that my first 45 was Lady Godiva (Peter & Gordon).

Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company's-Pearl. At least I think it was Big Brother. I had several of hers with all three of the band names. I also bought Steppinwolf's Born to Be Wild at about this same time.
