What was your favorite and least favorite item on your menu?

From our dessert parties, the best things were the chocolate peanut butter marshmallow squares and the worst things were... most of everything else: dry sugar cookies, bland chocolate chip cookies, Southern Pecan Tarts that would take your dental work out, and Butterfinger Bread Pudding that was just bad.

But you prolly wanna know about dinner food, right? At our tasting session we loved the bacon-wrapped scallops. We found the parmesan-crusted chicken dry and the steak in tomato-butter sauce overcooked, but that was at BoardWalk Inn. When we did dinner at Epcot, Rose and Crown cooked it, so this may not apply, but the salmon was great, the asparagus was great, and the pork loin was overcooked and bland. They did a good facsimile of Le Cellier's Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, though. At Hollywood Studios, nothing was that great—overcooked steak, blah potatoes, soggy veggies, and white cheddar mac 'n' cheese that could have come out of a blue box...

Where's your party?

OK - now I am scared. That many parties and ALL that bad food?

My parties are at AK, the Attic and Italy Isola. Full meals at each.

Sorry! :scared:

I think the key is not to get too fancy and you'll be fine. Breakfast, BBQ, burgers, finger foods, sandwiches... these should be fine. Also, the farther your venue is from a kitchen, the more chance food has to get sold/soggy/whatever. I think this is why our DHS meal was so underwhelming. If you have action stations, where it's being prepared right there, this won't be a problem. If it's being carted out from a central kitchen (like at the Attic and in Italy... and prolly AK too) you might want to choose things that don't have to be piping hot or fresh out of the oven to be great. Yes, they have chafing dishes and steam carts and all that, but certain dishes can get kinda tired after a while (like a medium-rare steak that ends up medium from sitting in the heat too long or a crispy pastry that steams into mush).

Most of the food we've had was just OK, not terrible, so if your guests aren't expecting haute cuisine, they'll probably think everything tastes fine! Also, some of the things we weren't impressed by at our tasting session have earned rave reviews here (like the parmesan-crusted chicken) so maybe we just caught them on an off day.

"action station" always makes me laugh.

Action Station!!

our cake(s) was DIVINE. i really wished i had more time to eat more mickey waffles or smoked salmon at the wedding. i loved the mashed potatoes at the tasting session, but we had roasted potatoes which i thought were just ok.

hubby LURVED the cheddar cheese soup, which we added to our menu, and although it tasted like it should and was loved, i am not a fan.:snooty:

there. i said it.

We did a buffet at my tea party and reception and people told me it was some of the best wedding food they've had. We had a potato bar that people raved about. You had a choice of garlic yukon, sweet potato, or boniato mashed potatoes with a variety of toppings. Our chef also created a black bean cake with sweet potato hash which was excellent and several people told me it was their favorite.

At my tea party the favorite seemed to be a tofu scramble and potato hash ( boardwalk chef's apparently do potatoes well...)

We had a chicken fajita station for the cocktail hour, lunch was salad, cheddar cheese soup, rolls, parmesean crusted chicken, sirloin carving station with red wine demi glace, loaded mashed potatoes, and a pasta action station (the chef was cooking the pasta to order) with an a la vodka sauce or a white garlic cream sauce (almost like an alfredo but a little lighter).

My favorite was the white cream sauce pasta, it was AMAZING! I wasn't feeling well during the reception so our waiter was nice enough to put together a to go box of pasta and other goodies for later, it was so good. The fajita station was a hit with our guests.

Least favorite - nothing, everything was so delicious.
