What was your biggest food letdown???

CReam cheese pretzel. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't "all that".

Agree. It was OK but I expected so much more with all the hype. DDIL agrees with PP about lobster ravioli and lobster soup/bisque from CR. I can't comment because I don't do seafood,

We went to Via Napoli last week and were VERY disappointed. The food was not too special, they rushed us eating, and it was total CHAOS on a relatively low crowd park day. We had ADRs thank goodness so didn't have to stand in the very, very long line. But the food was so-so, and the noise level was quite a disappointment. We will not return.

School Bread from Norway.
Just, meh. Kinda dry and the custard filling wasn't fabulous or anything. One of those "I tried it, done."

Cobb salad at the brown derby. I was really looking forward to the original Cobb. It just didn't work for me. But I did like my wife's shrimp entree, and the grapefruit cake.

Fish & Cips from Raglan Rd. in 2011 & from Cookes in 2010. Had them from Cookes in 2007 & 2009 and loved them. Fish was overcooked and the chips were undercooked.Still might give Cookes another try at lunch.

Ohana character breakfast. Way overpriced. The food was below average. The character interaction was ok (not bad but nothing special). After spending a million dollars on breakfast, did Disney really think I was going to spend a hundred dollars on character pictures?

Maybe I just don't like character breakfasts but I thought this was a terrible value.

Cream Cheese Pretzel at MK. Tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for many hours. One bite and threw it out.

Disney-Nestle Faux Coffee. (avoid at all times -- goes without saying)

Just came back and still loved my Dole Whips. I always get the pineapple floats if that makes a difference.

My long time disappointment is Le Cellier. I tried it again and again and was never impressed. My most recent letdown was the Nutella and Fruit Waffle sandwich in the MK. I was all ready to order a funnel cake but my friend talked up the waffles It was actually okay ... but I missed the funnel cake.

We tried the school bread in Norway. It was raved about, and I was curious to see what it tasted like. I must say I was disappointed. It was just a bun, kind of tasteless, with a teeny little bit of custard in it.

The other thing I'm disappointed in is the meats at 'Ohana. It's always so dry, and I never finish what's on my plate. But we keep going back because those side dishes and the dessert are so good.

Overall, we've enjoyed most of our meals at WDW--whether it be a quick service or a sit down restaurant. There are a few however that come to mind.

We were very let down with the steak at Mama Melrose's (and the waitress even raved about how good it was.) When we got it, it was loaded with fat and grizzle...a horrible cut of meat...

We've dined twice at Akerhus for the princess dinner and have really been letdown there also. We ordered the identical dinner both times, hoping that the first time was just an off night....and it wasn't. We ordered the kjottkake or traditional Norwegian meat ball, and both times the flavors were just not right. Having lived in Scandinavia, I know what to expect for the flavors and this was just not it.--The cold smørgåsbord before the meal is excellent there however. We enjoy the atmosphere there, so we will probably be back--but for something other than kjottkake.

Most everything mentioned on these boards is overrated and over hyped...

But to generalize the whole topic of let downs: for us Disney has never been about the food....the TS restaurants in general are a let down, most are mediocre at best...servings are way overrated to awful....everyone has their own preference but we shy way from them....

Zebra domes, dole whips, Le Cellier, Ohauna.....yeah we tried them and now say no....we're basic people, don't eat any different out than we do when at home...nothing exotic just basic American food and do no differently in WDW...also, after a couple of days eating CS or any type of restaurant food, I cherish my ham and salami and cheese sandwiches made with groceries picked up in route more than anything.....

Back in the 80's and 90's. the food and restaurants were better, more American style meals at decent prices...this dining plan sort of freebie and cannibalized all the food across property into bland offerings.....hardly any taste to anything....

Sure do miss alot of those old places and especially the corn fritters at the CR and beavertails in Canada......yeah, I'm old and set in my ways but vacations don't change the way we eat, but in general....food on property has been a let down in the past 10 years that we don't make any ADR's or plan any meals at the TS restaurants.....we go for the parks and resort ambiance and being entertained by the mouse....

I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but ours was Ohana. We ALWAYS went..every trip and the last two times we went, food was too salty and service was terrible.

Agreed! We have eaten there many times but this past trip for dinner I HATED our server - she was in one big rush to get all her tables out of there. So many little things she did that totally rubbed me the wrong way. The food was not all that great either. Breakfast there was as fantastic as usual though!

I have also had School Bread before - no need to repeat that. It was like dry bread with cream inside. Tried a Dole Whip for the first time on this last trip. Not overly impressed by that either.

ETA: A new treat I tried this time that I never had before and LOVED was the Strawberry Oolong Tea Slushie from Joy of Tea in China/Epcot. That was FANTASTIC!!!!!

Was looking forward to the food at both Cape May (dinner) & Sci Fi, but both were really nasty. Food was cold, rubbery & disgusting. Won't go back to either again.

Mine was Le Cellier..Looked forward to it so much because of all the hype here..After we were done DH and I looked at each other and said it was no better than Outback..Not to mention we were so close to the table next to us that I felt like I was dating the woman next to me and I could eat off her plate.

~Whispering Canyon Cafe gave me the only meal at Disney that I could ever say was absolutely terrible. Not worth putting up with the ear-piercing atmosphere for inedible food!

~Dole Whip...I love pineapple and I love ice cream, but these are just almost too sweet for me. My DH loves them, I just get a plain choco-vanilla swirl.

~California Grill...not a huge disappointment, still a nice meal, just not as good as I expected for the price. The food and service were really no better than our meals at our favorite, Kona Cafe.

These threads are such a waste of time, sorry. I have counted atleast 10 things people have listed that I loved...school bread, 'Ohana (especially the bread pudding), funnel cakes, cupcakes from SR, Dole Whips, Akerhus...

What is the point? Just to be able to be negative? This shouldn't influence people in any way, and if it does that's too bad, b/c someone may not try something at WDW just b/c someone on here said they didn't like it. It's all a matter of taste.

I find this thread useful, not as a what to avoid list but just to see others opinions.

Yesterday we went to the sandwich place by the haunted mansion and both had meatball subs. They looked amazing, huge dripping with cheese. We took a bite and there was no flavor. Not from the cheese, not from the sauce and certainly not from the meatballs. I wanted to like it and we were both starving but even after a boatload of parm and red pepper flakes it was still blah. We even tried dipping it in ranch dressing but the dressing tasted soured.
