What was the worst thing you ate?

the pizza at the window. It also looked to be other peoples favorite thing based on the amount being eaten.

We are preparing for our first cruise in March. I have seen lots of great pics of food and seen a lot of good reviews, but some not so good reviews... (pancakes, cheesecake)

So, tell me, what was the worst thing you ate on the ship? What are the menu items to avoid at all costs??:sad2:

I actually loved all the cheesecake onboard....i think i had it every night and every day at the buffet at lunch....each bit was so yummy...

The 2 items that i would stay away from are both from pirate night ( to be honest i didn't really like too much from the pirate night menu):

I did not enjoy the ribs but my DH did. I had to send them back and i ordered chicken instead. I am used to a smaller rib usually babyback pork ribs and that is not what i got. DH however ate his plate and mine lol

Also there was a rum dessert that night and my DH said it was the worst thing he has ever eaten...I couldn't bring myself to try it.

Everything else was amazing all week and i even had belgium waffles one morning in Lumieres and they were ok, not amazing but not cardboard either.

Have fun!

I just don't know what they put in their pancakes......they taste awful, and are NEVER warm! Even if they were made hours earlier, the TASTE is bad.......I don't understand how they could ruin pancakes!

Scrambled eggs

hear, hear. The scrambled "eggs" taste like plastic. I think they get a powdered mix, add water, cook it, and call it "eggs".

The next most disgusting thing onboard is the stuff they try to pass off as "lamb shank" or "leg of lamb". We've tried it twice -- once in Triton's and again in Palo's.... taken one bite and given up. The meat itself isn't too bad but the gravy/marinade they cook it in is glorified "institutional brown gravy", that they must buy in 55gal drums. Yuk.

In general, I get most frustrated with the breakfast options because I just LOVE a hearty breakfast. Pancakes are bad, scrambled eggs are bad and what is with the bacon? How can you ruin bacon? But it's just not good.

We usually eat at Topsiders/BB for breakfast and I usually go with fruit and a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. And a chocolate croissant. :thumbsup2

But the lack of good bacon and eggs and pancakes is just, well, sad.

I agree! I did find that the omelets were not bad though...if i had to pick one thing i would stick with those...

The pancakes are awful!

The dressing served with the turkey was horrible. It was almost like it was pureed and then scooped out of the pot with an ice cream scoop.

The creamy butternut squash soup at Animators Palate. Ugh.

Now, see, I love this one. This is why food is subjective. However, I had it on the Wonder in Aug., and it was great. When I ordered it last month on the Magic, it was a little salty.

The only things I didn't like were the chilled melon soup app & the meringue dessert on Pirate night.

Some of my faves (off topic, I know) -- strawberry soup at lunch in Triton's/Lumiere's, and my favorite non-Palo entree is the Treasure of the Seas pasta on the Pirate menu (DD3's fave, too!). Also, the best best best best dessert (IMHO) is the Grand Marnier souffle at Triton's/Lumiere's :thumbsup2

OMG I am so hungry now!! Our Oct cruise can't come quick enough!!!

Really??!! There is no fresh pancake station in the restaurants to make yummy, fluffy pancakes for breakfast? Disappointing to not be able to get a breakfast classic like a pancake!

Are pancakes also not made fresh on other cruise lines? Maybe it's a timing thing where cooks can't produce enough for the breakfast rush so they resort to frozen (tough, cardboardy) ones. Bad pancakes are the worst!
Guess I'll be sticking with omelets.

Three of our tablemates on the Dream maiden voyage ordered the Sesame Rock Shrimp with carmelized onion cheesecake as an appetizer. None of them could get past the first bite. (Personnally, I thought it sounded awful just reading it on the menu).

They had tuna tartare on the Wonder when I went in '09. Little did I know that 'tartare' is French for 'raw'!! Hated it!

Scrambled eggs from the buffet...always too runny!

I ordered a spinach artichoke appetizer and it was completely tasteless. The cheesecake from the buffet was just okay sort of like Jello No Bake.

I thought the pizza from Pinocchios was better than it was on our previous cruises. The steaks were good.
