What was the nicest thing a Non-CM did for you or your Family while at WDW?..........

On our trip in March, my girls wanted to ride the in the front of the monorail. They asked the CM but he said there was already a group ahead of them. We were running late for PS so waiting on the next one really wasn't an option. They were disappointed but I assured them there would be other chances to ride. Just then a girl in her mid-teens walked up and said that they could ride instead. The group that was going to ride was a group of 4 teens. They told my daughters that they had already been in the front earlier so they really didn't need to do it again. My daughters thanked them (I did as well). That just made my DDs day. I know we say alot about the kids today (I am guilty as well), but there are still alot of good kids out there. I told them that there mothers would be proud.:)

My husband and I were on our honeymoon this past January, wearing our bride and groom ears of course! A family eating next to us asked how long we'd been married and chatted with us a bit. On their way out the wife asked if we were over 21, and after saying yes gave us $20 to get some champagne. It was such a nice gesture, and we appreciated it so much that we've decided the first set of newlyweds we see on our upcoming trip in May will get the same well wishes from us!

Other families gave us their fast passes or let us cut in line while on the same trip!

We so appreciated on our first family trip when anyone offered to take a photo of all of us, that we make sure to offer that to others every chance we get! We have also given away our FP if we no longer need them. We gave someone some FP for Mission:Space on our way out of Epcot about 6pm this past January. THEY WERE THRILLED! And it made us feel good!.......P

On the taking pictures of others note - I always do that and love it when others do too. However - on the being afraid someone will steal it note - I have hesitated before because I have a pretty nice camera (I could afford to replace) and a very nice lens (to me anyway that I couldn't afford to replace). And that lens was a gift from the president of the company I work for as a thank you for a job well done. I'm not afraid that someone would steal it.....I would just hate for it to accidentally get dropped in the hand off. I would feel bad and they would feel bad and it was all from someone trying to be nice which would really stink. I am so paranoid that no one takes pictures with that camera without having the strap around their neck. My last trip we went with friends and before we ever got started I told them the rule because I knew we would be taking pictures of each other. Okay I know I'm crazy. So now I always take disposable cameras in addition to my good camera so others can take me and DH's picture AND I don't have to carry the big one around all the time. As far as other folks doing random nice things nothing stands out but in general most people are very considerate. Our last trip I was about 8 months pregnant and the few times the buses were full I was always offered a seat.

Well, our first trip to Disney was when I was eight. My mom took us (me, my four year old brother and my 4 month old brother) all by herself. We were in the Lion King show at Magic Kingdom which I believe is no longer there. Anyway, we were standing in the middle of the preshow and I was trying to see and trying to get my brother up on my shoulders or something so he could see. Well, all of a sudden this rather tall gentleman leans down to me and says "Let me have the lad little lassie" and he put his arm around my mom and said "ma'am I am going to hold your kids so they can see the show if that's alright". Mom nodded and he kinda guided us over towards the edge of the room and he put Rich on his hip/shoulders kinda standing on his belt almost and then he put his foot on the wall and put me on the perch. Then he took us in and got us all settled in the theater like thing and sat beside me to watch the show. Then he took us out to the stoller and told us to be good for our mum and walked away. He was there by himself but he was so nice and sweet! I loved his accent but it wasn't a Irish/Scotish accent so I really have no idea where he was from but I owe him a great big hug if we ever end up in the same show again.

During my DS's first trip, we were staying at CSR, a man in the arcade had been playing the Claw game and he got a teddy bear. He turned to my DS and gave him the teddy bear. My DS named it Coronado. He still has it. and he always says the nice man at CSR gave it to him.

Last May, it was my DS 5th birthday, we were running late to the night parade at MK, we got there just as it was ready to start, basically no spaces left. We stood behind a bench that was next to a tree, I figured I would lift my DS up to see. A young couple was sitting on the top of the bench, they were so nice, they let my son sit with them. He was so happy, he had a great time!

This is a great thread!!! It's nice to hear about all the great things people do for one another at WDW (rather than all the bad!!)

We were waiting for Wishes, in January at the MK. We were at the head of Main St, just past the train station, and we had a pretty good spot. There was a young couple, right at the fence, and they were on their own, and kind of spread out. As soon as the music started for Wishes, they gathered ALL the kids in our area (about 5 or so) and let them all stand in front of them.

We were chatting with them, they are locals, and they say they do this all the time.

We were in the same spot a few nights later, and our new friends were not there. We let 3 little ones up in front of us, with DS.

An oriental lady helped me when I got the ECV stuck in the door in the O Canada! film. She held the door and just barely got into the show in time before the inside doors closed. I would have felt so bad if she didn't make it because of me. Fortunately she did.

We were sitting next to a couple for the parade and they offered us some chocolate chip cookies they'd just got at the bakery, which was really nice of them. Not sure if it counts, because found out that their son was a CM that was off duty.

I help people there quite a bit if I can. I once gave a tour of animal kingdom to a family who had a handicapped child, that I had met in the Contemporary the night before. Just happened to run into them the next day at AK.

Also I love playing the crane and the ball roll game in Contemporary and Pop Century, both of which I usually win with fairly great frequency, but now don't really have much use for the tickets, so often I give them to a family who's collecting the tickets to get a prize.

The family that gave us some Winnie the Pooh fast passes on our very first day at the MK. It was Easter week and we were unprepared for the crowds (pre- disboards).

I also had an amusing moment when in line I held a woman's ice cream while she settle down her toddler. She never realized a non-family member was holding her ice cream she was so distracted. I just stuck my hand out and she gave it to me.

I love this thread. Keep them coming! And I pledge on my next trip to do a random act of kindness.:earsgirl:

OK, this thread really got me going. I was at EPCOT on my 40th birthday. I was wearing my "today is my birthday" button. No CM had said Happy Birthday to me all day. Weird! That evening, as we were waiting for Illuminations, we got to talking to a dance group from Argentina. They were very sweet teens. One of them noticed my birthday button, so they all sang happy birthday to me, in english! I was so surprised and embarressed! It was wonderful!

mmeb144, we had that happen to us as well on one of our trips! We celebrated DD's 8th birthday at WDW, with a luau dinner (Minnie's ??? Luau, no longer available) and then over to MK. While waiting for the parade, I asked my daughter how she enjoyed her birthday at WDW. One girl in a large group of Hispanic (maybe Latino, I apologize for not knowing exactly where they were from) turned and asked "It's your birthday?" My daughter shyly nodded, and the whole group of girls broke into a "Happy Birthday" chorus. They really sounded beautiful! I wonder if they were a chorus group or something?

This same DD loves to give up her seat on the bus - but I think she loves to stand, swaying around the corners, like it's another WDW ride, LOL!

A few years ago my DH and I were eating dinner inside Tony's at MK. I should let you know that at this time my husband was an undercover cop and had kinda long hair and a shaggy beard. Not his best look. I saw a boy on the patio waving his arms funny and told DH I thought he was choking. DH ran out there, the boy was choking, and did the heimlich (sp?) on him. He was fine. No one at the table even acknowledged my husband. Completely ignored him as if nothing happened. By then the waiter had walked up and asked if all was okay and DH came back to our table. The waiter then came and thanked us. The chef and the manager did the same. They gave us dessert. The family never looked at us. It was very wierd. DH didn't mind, he says people tend to get embarrassed about choking and pretend it doesn't happen. I've always wondered if it was cuz his appearance.

That was DH's good deed, but not the point of this post.

After dinner we were walking down Main Street and this woman ran up to us and said something like "I saw you save that boy. That was so nice. So often people don't get involved. It was wonderful of you to jump in and help. Thank you". I thought it was so nice of her. It really made my day. I'm sure we told her DH was a cop and was used to helping. But it was very nice to be thanked.

Ok, ya'all made me cry!

When we were at MK this March at Crystal Palace, while sitting on the porch waiting for our PS we had a conversation with a really sweet couple. She was wearing a Happy birthday button and in the conversation she told me how her husband brought her there for her 30th birthday. I laughed and said me too, only my birthday's tomorrow. Well they got called for their PS first and upon leaving our server came over to tell me Happy Birthday, gave me a card and the Pooh 'family' came over. She walked up and gave me the cupcake. It was very sweet, as I would never had said a word to our server about my birthday. :)

We saw that couple throughout the day and spoke a few more times. I was really touched by their effort. :)

Also, on that same trip, I had bought some glow necklaces for my daughter's at the Dollar Tree. They had probably 20 or so. Well they (ages 9 & 6) told me they were taking all of them that night to MK for Wishes. I told them they didn't need them all. My girls told me they were going to each keep two and then spread some magic by giving the others to kids that were whining while waiting for the fireworks. They did it. They were careful who they gave them to also! They would give each kid in a 'family' one not just one kid. It was a proud mommy moment. :)

Several years ago on our ULTIMATE Disney trip... We were going to ride in the front of the monorail from Epcot back to the TTC. While waiting, a father and his 6 year old son came along. The little boy was so excited just to be riding the monorail. We had ridden up front earlier in the week (I really don't like riding up there) so my husband & I offered to let them ride in the front with our DD15 and her best friend.......

It turned out they could not afford to visit the parks and were visiting relatives in Kissimmee. The little boy just wanted to see the monorail SO badly, his dad finally agreed to take him over to see it and maybe ride if it didn't cost them anything.

DD said the little boy was so excited and thrilled.. his eyes were sparkling even in the dark. His dad shook hands and thanked us so much when we got to the TTC. The little boy was telling my girls that no one would believe him back home ... that he got to ride with the driver!

A couple of years ago, my DS4 and I went on a solo trip together. Unfortunately, our luggage was stolen at the airport so we had absolutely nothing except the clothes on our back! After check-in at the All Stars, we went and sat by the pool in our clothes dangling our feet into the water. I got talking with another mom and she was questioning why my son wasn't in the water on such a hot afternoon. I explained what happened about the luggage. She then brought us back to her room and gave my son a brand new bathing suit & swimmies to KEEP for the rest of our trip!! I was so very grateful to her. She put a big smile on my DS's face when he realized he would be able to go swimming after all :)

There were some really great stories!

It's amazing the little kindnesses that we remember and that stay with us!

This is a great thread. All these stories are what make Disney such a special place!

I love to help out other people if I can and I know I am more "chatty" with people that I don't know.

Keep the stories coming!

What a wonderful thread! I'll be sure to help anyone in need on my next trip. The random acts of kindness that stay with us is amazing.:lovestruc
