The Trixie Belden Series, my first two were the Mystery of the Gatehouse and the Red Trailer Mystery. The only magazine I read as a child was Highlights.
I was another LIttle House on the Prarie Series fan, as well as Islands of the Blue Dolphins and Are You There God, It's Me Margaret. These are the first that I remember reading on my own at least. As for Magazine, it would have to be Seventeen Magazine. First one I ever had a subscription for. Oh the days when we were young and thought we were so smart and cool! lol
Book: Where the Sidewalk Ends. I've had my copy since preschool and some of those black & white illustrations proved a little too tempting for me and my brother, which started a tradition - it has now been colored in by 5 kids across 2 generations and I will hold on to that book until the day I die.
Magazine: Probably National Geographic. My grandfather subscribed so it was part of my sick day reading from the time I started school, even though back the text was way over my head and I mostly just loved the stunning photos.
