Hi, everyone...I've been racking my brain trying to creatively think of the "perfect" gift for my Dmom and Dsis on their first Disney cruise, October 13-17th, 2003! Please help me with ideas! They are BIG disney nuts (Mom loves Mickey-classic; and sis loves princess, eeyore and scrapbooking), don't drink, and will be pretty well stocked food and beach item wise. I've checked out Disney's florist for gift ideas and nothing stands out. For those of you who have cruised, what was your favorite gift received?

Please help!

How about a shipboard credit for each of them to use as they please?!?
A very nice surprise for each of them when they check-in.

The best gift I received was the crystal block with the Magic etched inside from my DH.

I like the shipboard credit idea. Depending on how much you want to spend I would call Shirley at The Perfect GIft. She did a beautiful basket for my MIL on Mother's Day.

Best gift that we ever received was a tray of candies and petit fours and fruit and a bottle of champagne. That was on a Disney Magic sailing. There were some glitches, though. They substituted a cheaper bottle of champagne than the one that my brother and his wife had ordered for us, and the steward cleared the tray away with well over half the food well before we were done

Another good one was an assortment of wines. They let you bring gift bottles to the dining room. ;)

Hey IvyandLace - how about some beach items...

Sorry dannyb, no intent to insult you. I just found this to be very amusing...

I celebrated my 50th birthday (yikes) while on the Wonder 9/14-9/18. My parents, sisters and brother surprised me with the Mickey Pearl necklace the first night of our cruise. It is fantastic and I love it. I know this would be a pricey gift as a first time cruise gift, but if anyone is looking for a special birthday or anniversary gift for someone who loves Disney I highly recommend the Mickey Pearl necklace. I LOVE mine.

My two favorites are the glass etching of the ship and the Mickey pearl necklace. Both are fairly expensive, though. The ship credit is a good idea, because at Treasure Ketch they have a lot of other really nice items that aren't quite as expensive. DD and I each got the Wish Pearl necklaces (open the clam, remove the pearl & place in Mickey necklace) these were $29.99. I really wanted the Mickey pearl, but I do love the wish pearl. They also have a silver charm of the ship for $30.
One item that's available in the cruise gift booklet is a miniature etching of the ship, and it's on a keychain.
We had all sorts of goodies in our room this time, roses (which opened fully over the course of the cruise & were beautiful), caps, water bottles, beach towel, fruit basket...but I still would probably rather have the credit to pick something out for myself. (Unless, of course, like lucky Scrappy, someone were to give me the Mickey pearl necklace!)
Anyway, just a few ideas.

:p Buckaroo's Dad: Very quick!

I havn't received it yet, but the best gift I got was an upgrade from my parents. From Navigators Vahranda to Full Vahranda.

:)

I was thinking about getting the glass etching of the ship as a gift. Does anyone know if it can have a message etched in it. Such as "congratulations"?

Can someone who has the glass with the magic etched inside, please post a picture of it if you have it. I would like to see what you guys are talking about. Sounds nice.

Thanks
Joanna

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!! :) I really do appreciate it! I think the safest bet is to do a ship credit for them as a gift so now I need to know how I go about doing this!! Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

I wouldn't dismiss Shirley from The Perfect Gift. I ordered baskets for my boyfriend's mom who we took with us on our first Disney cruise for her 50th birthday. I had Shirley do a basket for her and one for my boyfriend. I was able to give specific items to include plus Shirley had some great ideas. It was really fun when we first got to the room and they both had huge packages waiting with ribbons and balloons.

I was really happy with her work.

hmmmm, the best gift I ever received onboard the ship...

Mjasp: Barb & Tony's site has pictures of the gifts available...they're at www.castawayclub.com

Padre Disney...They can't do it ahead of time, will only add a card that says Congratulations...but you could have it done after the cruise.
