What was Star Wars like?

Okay I am very aware that the new Star Wars ride will be different. My question is what was the original ride like? Is it more like the old back to the future virtual type of ride, or is it more similar to the Spiderman ride at universal where your car actually moves through the ride. Just trying to get a feel for what the ride is kinda like if that makes any sense.

The old version was a regular motion simulator with 80's-tastic video on the screen. The new version will still just be a flight simulator ride but it's getting modern updates to the video and other elements (and hopefully it will be smoother, since the old one was the only ride in all of DL that made my tummy queasy if I got a seat in the back).

I have been on the new one. It is the same seats and ride itself. They've got the air really cold in there to help with queasiness.

The back row is my favorite place to sit! I love how my feet don't reach the floor-I can really experience the ride that way. If you don't want to swing around like a little kid, don't sit in the back row.

We get to ride on Friday. :goodvibes

 I am beginning to think I shouldn't ride it but I really want to experience it! I get sick easy...wonder if I can take some medicine before I ride???

It doesn't make me queasy at all but I haven't gotten sick from a ride in years. If you get motion sickness easily you might want to, just to be safe. Or eat some ginger.:goodvibes

I've only ridden it once in my adult life, and that time I got a seat in the back because that happened to be where they put me. After the ride, I felt a little sick and posted about it on these boards and was told that the back row is the only one that seems to have that effect, so when I go on it again, I'll try to avoid the back. I don't get sick on anything else - TOT, Screamin', nothing, that one just did me in for some weird reason.

I must say - I am not a big fan of jarring thrill rides, so Star Tours is about as much as I can take. BUT, I loved the back row of the original version!! My friend discovered that the back row offered the wildest ride and she always specifically asked CM's if we could sit there back in the '90s - and she was right. It is rollicking!! Your legs are swinging to and fro and you are rocking from side to side.

It's not for people who get sick really easily. I have other friends who constantly get headaches or get queasy on Star Tours, so they end up having to close their eyes or they just grimace through the whole thing.

And see...I ride in the back when I can...and I put my hands up in the air. For whatever reason that helps keep the motion sickness away. :)
