What vacation places with beaches are the best?

We are trying to find a different place to vacation this summer that includes a great ocean/beach . I would prefer to go back to the Disney, but DH says we need to go somewere else. I have always wanted to go to the cayman islands or something that has blue oceans and white sandy beaches. Has anyone ever been to a place like that. Please help me with some ideas

For white sand and clear waters on the mainland, the first to come to mind are Panama City, FL; Destin, FL; Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, AL. And anywhere in between.

It depends a great deal on what you like in a beach and what your budget is. There are beautiful beach areas with high-rise hotels, busy night life, and lots of people and restaurants. There are beautiful beach areas with swanky resorts and plenty of quiet. There are beautiful beach areas in funky, hippy towns with boutique hotels. There are beautiful beach areas easily accessible in the U.S. (as PPs have noted) and there are beautiful beach areas far away that take three planes to get to. And there's plenty in between all of that.
