What up with Orbitz and help me find my sanity again!!

Interesting... I'm getting a different message for a room at the Pop Century. There's no mention of the $25 fee. Here's what it says under the Rules & Restrictions:

One important difference between booking on Orbitz and booking with Disney, however, is that Orbitz collected the cost for my entire stay in full when I reserved the room. Disney takes a partial deposit at the time of booking... at least in my experience.

You may have found the one Disney resort that Orbitz did not add the $25 fee to. I checked about 7-8 Disney resorts, all categories, and they all had the $25 change/cancel fee. The fee is the major reason I stopped booking with Orbitz, last year.

For POR there is no cancellation fee. I have already canceled my first booking, no fee, got the full refund. However, for my AKL reservation, I did notice there is a $25 fee, but don't think I will be changing that so went ahead with it. Here is what I found strange, though: I would put in my dates for POR with kids and was getting an extra persons charge, as well as the total wasn't adding up correctly. It was coming out to about $2400, and when adding up all the nights, that was $600 off, even with the extra persons charge. So, went in and took off my kids and no extra charge and the total added up correctly. Very strange. I am going to call and get my Disney reservation number, then figure out a number to call at Disney to get the kids added. I had to do that with my Universal reservation a couple of years ago, so hope it works. Not sure why they were charging me an extra person fee, they did not do that for my AKL reservation.

You need to call Orbitz to add children without charge. It's a glitch in their system. They then will contact Disney to add kids, with no extra cost.

No, you must buy a package through Disney or a TA to get the dining plan.

I was wondering about that since I had never seen it before and with the numbers not adding up, I suspected it might be something like that. I have to call for my Disney number so I can link to MDE anyway. Thank you!!

ANd Orbitz is STILL a wonky system! No extra charge for 1 adult 3 kids for CSR, but POP has an extra person charge for 2 or more in a room! I sent an email complaining about it! Got a call and email later. NOW there is no charge no matter how many I stack in a room (up to occupancy) on my account.

I never had an issue 2 years ago adding kids etc to reservation for MDE when I booked through orbitz (got a deluxe at 50% off with orbitz code/disney discount).
I plan on upgrading my ticket to AP this August-I think I read I can call for AP discount to book through Disney if I upgrade when I am there? I can upgrade before we check in even, if needed.

Glad you worked it out with Orbitz. I still have to call to add my 2 dds and get my reservation # for Disney. Their system has been pretty out of wack for days now!
