What type of purse for DL?????

Ah, why did you have to link those! Now I have bag envy. I've never seen the vera bags before (or known what they are) but they are super cute... Now I know what to ask for for Valentines Day or Easter, LOL!

:rotfl: I found them on the DIS boards too when I was researching for a trip. I have quite a few of them now! The secret, is they put them on sale as they release new colors. Buy the older colors and save some money! It doesn't count as a purchase if it's on sale - right? :rolleyes1

I would go crazy with a purse at DL!

Our first trip we used a crossbody style backpack, but it was oddly shaped and didn't work too well. It was also uncomfortable, and I couldn't carry it all.

This past trip, we used a draw string backback that was much better. Had a fishnet pouch on both sides that we used for our water, a front pouch we put our tickets an PP card in, and then one big main pouch that fit our hoodies, snacks, ear bands, etc. The best part was it was light weight, with adjustable straps so we could both carry it and it wasn't annoying or troublesome. HOWEVER it was hard to deal with on some rides, especially Screamin. I was going to use it again, but it ripped so I don't think i'd feel like my stuff was "safe" in it anymore.

My next trip is supposed to be this June with my mom, and i'm really liking that Vera mini hipster that was linked earlier. I'm thinking of getting that so we can travel lighter. We'll be staying really close, so could easily go back to the hotel for a jacket or something bigger we may need. All I would need to have on me would be our cards, tickets, map and camera. My camera is small so I doubt it would be a problem. Mom doesn't wear sunglasses, and I rarely take mine off. The only thing i'd have to go without would be snacks.

The one I used looked more like this:

The front flap had the magnet closure, and it had two zippers that opened the main compartment. I would go to unzip it, and it would often sort of flop open, and that is when my cards and some money would fall out. It reminded me of how a suitcase will fly open if you stand it upright and unzip it--sort of like a drawbridge coming down. Maybe I am just really uncoordinated! When I realized that my hotel keys were getting demagnetized from the front magnet, I stopped putting them there, and then it didn't happen after that.

I had read that other people liked baggallini bags for traveling, so I am sure it was just the particular bag I got. I did buy a new swing pack for our trip last summer, but I am not sure what brand it was. I got it at TJMaxx, and I made sure it had no magnets and it didn't fall open when I unzipped it! It worked really well. I alternated that and a waist pack.

Here is a picture from that trip with my girls:

You can see my youngest had her own messenger style bag. She bought hers at TJMaxx as well and loved it. She would stuff her jacket and maps in there.

Super cute pic!:goodvibes

And yes...that Baggallini is VERY different from the one I have. Another poster mentioned that her bag "hit" in the wrong spot- I hate trying to walk and keep getting smacked with your bag! I love my Baggallini so much because it's adjustable. And at 5'2 (on a good day!) having a bag that can adjust to my height is a must!

I think any type of messenger style bag probably would work for me- seems to be what I like the most. However I am in love with the Baggallinis because of the great colors, the fact I can easily wash it, the adjustable strap, the nice cell phone zip pocket up front, pouch on the side for a water bottle, etc. I could go on and on...

But now I'm curious about the Vera Bradley wristlet!

Bag envy is right!

If I do not carry my backpack I carry this I have the same "style" in differnt prints and brands

I used to use dorky fanny packs, but really got where they felt tight and uncomfortable..then I got a free AARP bag that was perfect in size..tiny..but I got really tired of all my pictures screaming AARP, so caved this Christmas and bought a Dooney & Burke DLR 55th messenger bag. I thought it looked kinda big, but it really worked out well. It's cross body (kinda long even pulled to shortest setting)so I didn't have to carry anything and it worked fine on the rides. I just put in my phone, camera and snack stuff and it was fine. Sometimes if have on cargo pants I don't carry anything, but again, in the pictures I can look like I'm invading Normandy with al lthe little bulges everywhere, so I think I'll stick with my D&B bag.

We went in October and I used my medium zip top tote from Lands End. It worked perfectly. It held my wallet, the cameras, our maps, snacks, a drink, etc... without being too bulky or heavy. It's also waterproof so I didn't have to worry about anything getting ruined on water rides.

ETA: it also fit perfectly in between my legs on rides or in the pouches.

I love my backpack. Inside it has hooks for keys and other items. My wallet has a loop on the coin purse, which I hook onto one of the hooks. They would really have to work to get my billfold out of my backpack. Plus it has 4 different pockets, they would have to know which one had the billfold in it. At Disneyland I really didn't worry about pickpockets. At the airport yes!

We've been to WDW the last 2 years and I've used a Vera Bradley Hipster (not the mini) and loved it! It's light as a feather to begin with, so it's only as heavy as what you put in it. Since it's all fabric, I normally scotchguard mine to make it easier to keep clean. It's also tall enough to hold a bottle of water if you want to (I carry a flat can coozie to keep the bottle from sweating). The strap can be worn short like a shoulder purse or longer to go cross-body. I normally wear it cross-body so that when I sit down to eat or ride a ride, it just lays flat in my lap. I don't have to hang it on the back of your chair when eating or taking it off when on a ride. We did notice some people last year who seemed to be scoping out a dining area, watching for people who weren't paying attention to their bags...we alerted the attendants just in case.

We're going to DL for the first time this August and we're really excited! :yay:

Love, love, love the hipster from Vera Bradley! Perfect for phone, camera, sunglasses, small wallet. It took me month to switch back to my regular purse after we returned from WDW! I can't wait to use again on my DL trip!
:cool1:
