What transportation would you use to get to Shades of Green?

Hello all, I was going to post this in theme parks, but figured it's more related to the hotel and I'd probably get better help over here on the hotels board.

What's the best way to get to SOG? I'm not even sure exactly where it is, other than south of the Poly parking lot. (Which to me seems like RP Speedway, but not sure.) We need to get from the Beach Club to SOG to buy park tickets. I was thinking of taking the Disney bus to TTC/MK and then a taxi to SOG. Or should I just take a taxi from the BC straight to SOG?

My g'ma (who's 70+) will be with me going to SOG, so walking isn't an option.

Thanks!!

take the bus to the MK - then monrail to the Polyn.

ask the bell services out front of the Poly to get you a cab.

I hope you get your mother a wheelchair - since you are staying at BC - just ask the front desk for one. (if she is like my mother she will refuse it - in that case take it anyway and just store your stuff in it. Didn't take mother long - well if we have it I might as well use it....)

get exact instructions to SOG - you don't want the taxi to get lost.....

here is a map

if that doesn't work

Like the other poster mentioned, get over to the Poly. Shades of Green is literally right across the street from the Poly; however, SoG has a VERY LONG driveway. You could go to the TTC and catch a SoG bus from there.

If walking isn't an option, catch the bus that runs from the TTC to SoG. The TTC-SoG bus runs every 15 minutes like clockwork. I believe it departs the TTC in space #2 or #3, near the front. The bus itself is easy to identify, it isn't a Disney-owned bus, so it won't have the same markings, and it will have a "Shades of Green" sign in the window. You can then catch a bus leaving SoG back to the TTC 15 minutes later, after you buy your tickets.

The Shades of Green bus is the very first one by the entrance to the ttc, it could not be any simpler. Just take a Disney bus to the TTC and hop the Shades of green bus to the resort.

But, a word to the wise, it takes about 1 1/2 hours (probably) to do this round trip from the beach club. It would probably cost $25 in cabfare, even if you had the cabbie wait for you while you bought your tix. Are you buying tix for enough people to make the cost savings worth it? Just food for thought.

Have a great trip,

Jack

Hi - I'm assuming that since you're staying at the Beach Club you'll be taking the Disney Shuttle? Or are you renting a car?

If you're renting a car, you can stop at the Military Installation on 7151 Earhart Drive Orlando, Florida 32827. It's not far from the airport. It also has a small commisary where you can get some drinks and snacks, among other things.

It's the Navy Ticket Office and is located outside the exchange. These are the directions:

Directions to ITT OFFICE ORLANDO
From I-95: Take exit 205 (528 Expressway) west to exit 9 (Tradeport Drive). Left on Tradeport. Navy Exchange Bldg 1 mi. on right.
From I-75: Take exit 261 (I-4) west to exit 72 (528 Expressway). Go to exit 9 (Tradeport Drive). Turn right onto Tradeport.
Navy Exchange Bldg 1 mi. on right.
From Airport: Take 436 North for 2 miles. Turn left at first light (Frontage Road). Turn left at next light (Tradeport Drive).
Navy Exchange Bldg 1 mi. on right.

That's where we stop whenever we fly. It's a lot easier to get to then SOG, especially with your g'ma.

As of now we're not renting a car, but I will keep this post in case we do and I can stop by the military installation site.

I don't want to take 1.5 hours to do all this, so we might have to take the taxi. We'll see, though. I don't expect to get to the hotel until 3:30 if we use ME, and we wanted to tour a park that night and see one of the shows. Time is worth the money on arrival day!! If it's under $40 round trip that's good enough for me!!

Thanks for all the help guys!!
