WE ARE GOING TO STAY ON SIGHT SO WE WILL USE THE SHUTTLES TO GET TO THE PARKS. WHAT IF WE ARE EATING AT RESTAURANTS IN THE DIFFERENT RESORTS. HOW WOULD WE GET THERE AND WOULD IT BE FREE?

Disney Transport is free.

Buses run from the theme parks to the resorts, and back. There are no resort to resort buses. Your best bet is to go to the nearest open theme park (or DTD) to either where you are or where you are going. (For the Epcot Resorts, do NOT use Epcot!)

Transportation is free for disney guests. Depends on where you are staying and where you are going. There is a way to get from anywhere to everywhere. When you check in they will give you a transportation guide and just ask anyone and they will help you.

If you are in one of the parks getting to another hotel is easy, just hop on the bus for the resort you want to go to. When you are finished at the resort, as Tyler states above then just get on a bus for one of the parks that is closest to your resort, once you get to the park just get on the bus for your resort. It can be time consuming.
If you want to just go from resort to resort, I have found that it is easier to pay for a taxi, especially if we are running late(which we usually are).
