You go to your User CP and once you're there, on the left you can edit your avatar and profile.

The avatar is the picture. The have preset ones you can choose from or you can upload them from your computer or enter the URL of the picture.

As for the writing, you go to the edit profile option and you can put in a headline..

If you go to the top of the page, there's a list going across the screen in a blue box. On the far left it says User CP..

Or you can go to the top of the page where it says "Welcome (your username)" in a yellowish box and click private messages in that box. It'll bring you to your user CP
