Hello fellow Disney-fanatics! I'm sure this has been asked before, but as I go through my packing list - I am wondering what proper "dinner" attire is. We have an ADR at Narcoossee's - now ladies, since it will be hot when we go, what should I wear to maintain a casual look, yet keep cool? Are flip flops allowed? Thanks in advance!

I wear a pair of Capris & a nice shirt. I saw women wearing sundresses too. As far as shoes, I wear a nice pair of sandals..some don't have straps around the ankle, but they are dressy (not like old navy flip flops)

Shorts would be fine as well.
Flip-flops technically aren't forbidden, but at least I would steer clear of those rubber ones that cost .99 and you normally see around a pool.

As far as Disney is concerned, it honestly doesn't matter what you wear, unless you turn up in a swimsuit or torn clothes or cutoff shorts.

Its our anniversary so we planned on dressing up, Im wearing sleevless cotton dress with heeled sandals and DH wearing a pair of thin kacky pants and a short sleave polo type shirt with Sperrys.. Its a special night so shorts and flip flops just wouldnt do it justice. I think we will still feel cool.

Doing same for California Grill, rest of our meals are shorts, and capris..

Same here, although I don't wear sandals - usually a pair of plain white sneaks in case we do a lot of walking after dinner, which we almost always do.

I think it depends on whether you are eating at a park restaurant or a resort restaurant. As a man, I had decided a tank top would be fine for the hot parks all day (not to mention the princesses really dig it). However, one of the days we ate supper at Micky's Diner in the Contemporary resort. I felt under dressed in my tank top -- especially when I realized they take a family portrait before hand, that they try to sell you. Most of the other men were wearing polo shirts (I hadn't even packed anything like that).

I dress for business everyday, so when I am on vacation I like to go really casual, but I would still recommend something a little nicer for some of the resort dinners, unless you really don't care what you look like.

When I pack I usually toss a skirt (one of those light weight, longer, wrinkley material types) and a nice tank top. Pair it up w/a nicer pair of white flip flops (as others mentioned, avoid the cheap shower shoes) & some jewlery & you are good to go.

Nice thing is the skirt won't need ironed when you get there.
I wouldn't wear the tank that day (too sweaty) but after your nice dinner night then you could wear it some later day in your trip.
And plain white flip flops work w/almost anything so they get worn a lot & probably would have been packed anyway.

That combo give you a cool outfit that is also a little nicer than the average vacation wear outfit but doesn't add to much more to your suitcase (and w/how the airlines are charging & watching luggage now days every bit you can save helps).

Thank you Cheryl! I'm not planning on doing a nicer pair of sandals, flip-flops will just have to suffice. I can't remember the last time I wore a skirt, I think I'm too "pooh-sized" for a skirt, and I have never felt comfortable wearing them. How adorable are your four-legged children!! Gorgeous lab, golden?

Thanks to all the other ladies, and man who likes princesses attention! lol
