What to wear?

I'm going in a week and I'm totally not ready! It just occured to me to ask what to wear with regards to the weather. Especially for those of you who just got back. Did you need winter type coats? Was it cold standing in queues? If warmer type coats, a ski type parka or a wool? If a wool coat, really warm or spring? Can you layer and get away with sweaters? Please tell me we don't need hats or gloves! I've been reading the weather and it was supposed to snow yesterday! Did that happen? My big problem is that I have two wool coats, a fall type one and a serious wool winter one. I prefer to take the light one but don't want to be cold. They are so big I don't want to take both because of the room they'll take up.

I have another packing question. Did you forget anything you really needed and what was it (if you don't mind) and what did you wish you brought that may have made things easier. (for example baby wipes). I'm afraid that I'll forget something really important. Has anyone ever made up a packing list?
Finally, I'm going into Paris for a few days. I know they are really fussy about dressing and for the most part I'll just have to be a tourist because I don't have the money for a new wardrobe. I want to try however to not be too offensive so I will try to wear nicer clothes. I was worried about my children. THey have mostly casual clothes like corduroy pants with tops they even have (gasp) sneakers. I can't do anything about the sneakers because we have to do so much walking, but will corduroy pants be tolerable? (I almost don't want to know) I'll try to avoid jeans if I can. No one wants to bring skirts or dresses because we are traveling, will the little girls all look like Madeline, or will some of them wear more casual childrens clothes?

yes it is cold at the moment, and it might snow. The temperature is around
0°C

So take warm cloth and shoes!

You can buy almost everything you forgot at the resort or the nearby shopping center, but at the resort the things are quite expensive and to go to the shopping mall is fun, but takes at least 1-2 hours from your time at the resort or parks.

We've just got back and like you I debated over taking warmer coats. In the end we took waterproof mac type things and plenty of layers, you will see in our trip report that we got really cold watching the Stunt Show and returned to the hotel to 'layer up'. I put on a thermal vest, long sleeved tee shirt, fleece, sleeveless fleece body warmer and the waterproof jacket over the top. We also wore hats and gloves, I know you are reluctant to take these but they were a godsend for me in the cold - most of your body heat is lost through your head and putting on a wooly hat makes a HUGE difference! Regarding queues, we found many to be under cover and even inside (POTC was lovely and warm!) so long as they weren't too long. We avoided situations where we had to queue for much more than 20 minutes anyway, going away to eat and returning an hour or two later seemed to do the trick

Just to add that layers are definitely recommended

After last winter we have decided that stunt show is a summer attraction, unless you have a warm rug to sit on

I agree with Cyrano on that one. I went in October 04 to the stunt show and by the time I came out I was frozen right through to the bone. It was a long while queuing and a long while sitting on a cold hard bench. I'm going in November this year so have decided that I will proably give it a miss this time.

I have just come back tonight & I would say hats, gloves & scarfs are a must. We had lovely dry weather, but it was cold most of the time. First thing in the morning we were wearing hats & at the end of the day it was freezing. I brought my winter coat & needed it.

I returned tonight.

It was sunny for the duration of our 5 day stay - but it was cold. For 3 of the 5 days we were ok with:

thermal long-johns and thermal vests
normal jeans/trousers
long sleeve tops
warm fleeces
hats and gloves

- these were enough to keep us just about comfortable - although on occassion in the longer queues we added a pac-mac to keep out the wind.

On the last 2 days it got colder and we replaced the fleece with a winter coat (padded and shower-proof type). Again because of the other layers (especially the thermals) - we were comfortable. DH did NOT have thermal long-johns/vests and he was not warm enough on the last two days.
