Did the Capital yesterday and White House this AM! What a great time! Boys wore scout uniforms and received lots of comments and questions - they were very proud to discuss what they've learned in scouting! Capital Police at security points were great - and gave the boys a patch to add to their collection!
While in the Capital, Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Myers with group walked by - big thrill!
We noticed lots of school groups going on tours - don't parents care what their kids wear anymore? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when we go out I like my guys to look good. I was shocked at some of the outfits, dirty, torn, skimpy... for the most part the school groups were well behaved though.
The White House was a great tour too! You really get to take your time and no one pushes you along. Secret Service was very helpful and answered all the boys questions! The boys loved looking at pictures of all the White House pets.
Both are great tours and if in DC try to go!
Thanks for all the advice with clothes - I went with casual skirt and fit right in, but I need better dressy walking shoes. The blisters are bad!!
