The first of many questions I have about my upcoming trip: Should I pack mostly shorts with some pants just in case? Will we need jackets at night, or just sweaters? Rain gear? Thanks! :)

Don't pack for bad weather... You have to think positive! If is does rain, they sell clothes there! :)

this is one of those questions that always has a "depends on where you are from" attached to it :rotfl:...if you are from a warmer climate..ie...AZ, CA, NV etc...then you MAY be able to wear shorts but make sure and bring a jacket for the evenings....if you are from a cooler climate I would probably say shorts and still bring a light weight jacket just in case...I cant tell you how many times Ive been to DL when its in the 60's and 70's, wind blowing and people are at the hotels swimming...BRRRRRRrrrrrr...I dont get in water till its almost 100º outside:lmao:....but everyone thats there that I talk to that are out in the water are from cooler climates and think 60's and 70's are HOT!!!

Lol We're from Oregon. "SHORTS WEATHER" starts at 60°. :rotfl2:

You shouldnt need rain gear. The only time I've ever needed it was in December. It should be mid 70's- low 80's in May. You'll want shorts during the day, and a jacket/ sweater/ sweatshirt for early morning or late nights. It does get pretty cool once the sun goes down.

chances are you are probably right on this one but unfortunately thats not always the case...its good that you personally have only experienced it in Dec. but CA isnt a big rain state...we get most of our rain for the year anywhere between Dec.-May....this year hasnt been nearly as much as previous years but last year we got rain straight through till sometime in June...every year it changes...cant predict anything anymore:confused3

I'm from Seattle, orignal poster is from BC- our idea of rain and southern CA idea of rain and what requires rain gear are probably really different! :rotfl:

We got rain 2 days during our trip last May. it wasn't a huge amount of rain, but it was cool enough that we really didn't want to get very wet. I put ponchos on my girls, but us adults just wore our sweatshirts (and, yes, we got wet). I'd just watch the forecast right before you go and decide on rain gear from that. We'll for sure be taking sweatshirts for our trip in less than 2 weeks (but we're from Arizona, so we're already getting used to 100 degree+ days this year).

Im from puerto rico. Shorts weather for me starts at 85 degrees. Anything below 75 is BRrrrrr for me. Hopefully its in the 60s when we go in may because i am melting over here

I would pack a few t shirts, maybe one long sleeve and a couple sweatshirts. Short/capris/pants are your own preferences. I just know that it gets pretty chilly in the evening, so you may want to cover up depending on how sensitive you are to the temperature.

I'm from BC as well. I am bringing one pair of pants, a couple pairs of capris and maybe one pair of shorts. T's and tanks and an umbrella :rotfl2: I carry an umbrella everyday I go to work (take transit and walk) even in August because you never know.:lmao:

I am also going to bring a sweater for mornings and evenings, probably a hoodie so I can tie it around my waist when it gets warm.

I'd bring at least one or two pairs of pants or jeans and a light jacket and you should be fine with the rest being shorts and t-shirts :)

i think thats perfect!!:goodvibes

We're from Vegas and as long as the high for the day is predicted above 70, we start out our day in shorts with a lightweight jacket/sweatshirt if we're going at opening- if you're arriving after 10, you don't need jacket usually. We usually take a break between 5 and 7 and go back to hotel...we change into jeans and bring our jackets back for the evening.

wow you're a rare breed there Pigletseeker...i know lots of people who come from vegas and they dont wear shorts in 70º weather...80's?? definitely...if you are good wearing shorts in that weather how the heck can you stand the summers?:rotfl:

We were there in mid-May a few years ago, and there was a huge heat wave, temps in the high 90s and low 100s, I know it was not the norm, but you just never know! We are from Oregon and just about melted. Thankfully we brought many pairs of shorts and t-shirts, as well as Capri pants, a sweatshirt and a light fleece jacket.

I just returned from DL - I know a few weeks could make a big difference in the weather but FWIW our weather was 70s during the day (hottest was 78 I believe) and high 50s at night. It really was beautiful weather, although the last day was a bit overcast in the morning but at least the rain held off. Anyway, we are from Eastern Pennsylvania so we experience quite a range of temperatures and I'm not really a weather wimp. Shorts and t-shirts were fine for us during the day, although a few mornings when we arrived at park opening I wouldn't have minded having a long sleeve t-shirt or even a sweatshirt until the sun really warmed things up (although it was never too cold for shorts and t-shirts). I knew that we'd want warmer clothes for the nighttime so I planned our breaks to be mid-afternoon so we could change into jeans and grab sweatshirts. Regarding rain, I packed ponchos and a raincoat for the trip but really don't like carrying too much extra stuff around at the parks so if the forecast looked pretty good then I left them in a hotel.

If you are worried about the possible range in weather temps you could look at stowing some warmer clothes/rain coats in a locker for the day? That way you don't have to carry them around but they are available if needed!

Have a great trip, I wish I was going back!

Thanks for the responses everyone! Here in BC it's been quite chilly, so I'm hoping it's nice and hot in CA :cool1: At least if I don't end up packing the right clothes for the weather I'll have a good excuse for buying Disney clothes in the parks ;)

As a fellow BCer I couldn't agree more!

We went the 3rd week of May last year and we had unseasonably cool weather - it even rained a couple of days but by no means of the imagination did it compare to BC rain lol

When the sun did come out it was warm, only 1 day was it really warm enough to enjoy the pool.
