Hi everyone, we are new and are amazed at all that we have learned from you. Everyone is so friendly. We are going on our 2nd Disney cruise in October, (myself, DH, DS-age 11) and are having our wedding vows renewed. I am not sure that I want to wear a wedding dress, and am considering another type of dressy gown/formal. What do you think?

Thanks!
Lory:D

Welcome to the Disboards! I am sure you will feel right at home here! :p It's quite the friendly bunch here (as you pointed out!) Anyway, we are going on the Aug. 2nd Western and we, too will be renewing our vows ... I am still trying to find the "perfect dress", but I am definitely leaning towards an off-white/ivory formal dress ... I want it to remind one of a wedding but in a very subtle way ... so far, I haven't found it ... but I am determined!

Congratulations on the vow renewal ... My best wishes to you for a trip filled with "Magic-al Memories!"

;)

Hi MindydLeon,
Thanks for your reply! Good luck on finding your perfect dress!
We haven't received our planning packet yet, how long did it take for you to receive yours after you booked your renewal?

Congratulations on the vow renewal--I'd love to do it , but not sure DH would agree.

Have you considered a princess gown and prince uniform? Seriously, it would be fun and you'd fit right in! Afterward, relish the "celebrity" as you sign autographs in the Lobby - just kidding.:p

Should be easy to come by at a costume rental, especially one near Orlando.

Here's some help:

Happy vow renewal!

GenieDana - I love the prince and princess idea ... unfortunately, after 18 years, DH and I are no longer "prince/princess-sized" --- we are more of a "king/queen-sized" couple ... :p --- but i do LOVE the idea!

BethA - you'll never know until you ask ... how about a nice, romantic proposal ... from you to him this time ... might add to the fun and make him more inclined to do so ... I think this is more of a "girl" thing (vow renewal, that is ...) but I doubt that the men regret it when it's all said and done ... (for the romantic men out there - I meant no offense, but you must admit you are definitely a rare breed!)

YellowLabFans - Still searching for the dress, but I am sure having fun looking ... who would have thought it would be this exciting? anyway, regarding the planning packet ... I am not good at "waiting" for things, so I had Cathy at Fairytale Weddings email me a copy of the form so I didn't wait an hour before I had them ... it's a word document and it's just a few pages long ... I would be happy to email it to you if you would like ... just PM me ...

Thanks to all for you best wishes ... it really feels like family here!

Any idea if there is another vow renewal on the Aug 2 cruise-that's our cruise.

Aug. 2nd ... wow! that's our cruise too! I'm not sure if there are any more spots available, my understanding is that they do 2 for every cruise ... so, it's entirely possible that the other slot is available but I don't know ... you can call FairyTale Weddings on Monday and find out ... their phone number is (321) 939-4610 --- I have been working with Cathy Ingle (sorry if I misspelled that!), but I'm sure anyone who answers the phone should be able to check the date for you! Good Luck! *** Here's some pixie dust *** to help make your dreams come true!

see you on board!

GenieDana, Thanks for the costume idea! That would be really cute, not sure if DH will go for it though. He wants to wear the tux.

MindydLeon, it is exciting isn't it? We just had a family wedding with the Justice of the Peace the first time, so this is a lot of fun!

BethA, I think the vow renewal is especially important and romantic to women, but I think most men would enjoy it when the time comes, even if they don't get too much into the planning part.:Pinkbounc

YellowLabFans --- yup ... we had a "Las Vegas" wedding --- not quite the drive thru but pretty close ... --- we had a grand total of 2 guests (long story!) so this time we will have 7 guests so we are moving up ... maybe by our 25th wedding anniversary I can get everyone to come! :p Enjoy the planning ... it's at least half of the fun!

Hi all!! Wanted to also chime in to say congats to yellowlabfans and to say welcome to the Dis boards!!! I am also doing the vow renewal, but it won't be till December (about 5 mths. to go).

I also got married by the JP 16 1/2 yrs. ago. Both my DH and myself agreed to do it right and go all out!! I bought my wedding gown and veil. I have to make arrangements in October to get it fitted. My DS- 12yrs. old is going to be our best man and is walking his mom down the isle. I also am working with Cathy Ingle, she is soooo nice!!!:bounce:

MindydLeon- I hope you have a great time and pleassse, let me know how it went, I want to know what to expect.

Again, congrats!!!!

Hi Lisa,

Our DS, age11 is walking me down the aisle also. He is somewhat nervous about this, but I explained that there would just be a few Disney cast members there in addition to us and so I think he has decided that he can handle it!

Is it true that we will be able to choose our dining rotation? I want to be in Lumiere's on that night. Do you know anything about that?

I am still up in the air about what type of dress to look for, I haven't had a chance to look around yet.

Lory:earsgirl:

I was actually going to start a new thread asking about the dining rotation for those who have done a vow renewal in the past ... Susan (who did the whole vow renewal in May - i think) had the APLAPLA rotation which does make the vow renewal day (Thursday) at Lumiere's --- she had mentioned that she thought that they (the wedding coordinator) intentionally do that so that you dine at Lumiere's that night (although I think a dinner at Palo is included in the vow renewal package and most couples dine there on that Thursday nite) ...

Anyway, our DS17 will play double role as well for us, he will be escorting me down the aisle then he will take his spot next to his father as best man ... we are hoping that our vow renewal will be an example to our 3 kids (DD12 - bridesmaid and DD6 - flower girl) about the kind of commitment marriage is and to show them that we are committed to each other and to our family ... and then there's CAKE ... right?

We're thinking about a vow renrewal next year as well. But we don't think we want to do the one onboard. On our actual anniversary we'll be at CC. The day before we'll be in St. Thomas. So we're tossing back and forth the ideas of either actually having a priest in the Cathedral in St. Thomas do the ceremony (it would just be DH and I) or possibly a Bahamian officiant coming to CC.

Does anyone know if the latter is possible?

If we do the St. Thomas thing, I'll probably get an ivory street length dress to wear. If we do the CC thing, not sure...bathing suits?

I have read on these boards that they do weddings at Castaway Cay ... I'm not so sure about vow renewals ... but if you call Fairytale Weddings I'm sure they can fill you in on the details. When you find out ... please post so that we can live vicariously thru you! :D
