Hi! Trying to figure out what clothes to take. Have never been to Florida at the end of Sept./begn. of Oct.. Is it too hot for jeans and short sleeved shirts, or should I just pack shorts and tank tops???

My sister was there last year at that time, and it was very hot. I was there once at the end of September, it was very hot. Leave all but one pair of jeans at home but pack a poncho. There are frequent, quick afternoon showers.

Stay cool!

We were there middle of last Oct. due to all the storms we had rain everyday on and off. But all in all the temps were warm enough for shorts and to swim. Only one night we needed sweatshirts.

You can also check weather.com to see what the weather is predicted to be like. That is what I always do as a vaction gets closer.

DH and I were just discussing this over the weekend. We are packing for temps around 80-85 but we are each bringing 2 pairs of jeans, 2 sweatshirts and a light jacket just in case. We are driving so we can overpack a bit to be weather safe.

Shorts, shorts, shorts and maybe a swim suit or two! Forget sweat shirts/jeans! :rotfl:

Shorts, tank tops, swim suits,t-shirts. Definitely won't need jeans or sweatshirts. It is usually very hot and humid.

shorts, some capris and one long sleeve tee shirt, one hoodie for traveling in case its cold when I go home

we were there that time five years ago, and wore shorts the whole time, we only had onle cold(ish) day during the whole 2 wk holiday

I find it is good to have a sweatshirt along for some of the restaurants at night, sometimes the AC can really be cranking and we ALWAYS end up being seated under a vent!!!

We tend to do parks during the day, go back to hotel for naps and dinner and go back out for the night. I'm packing shorts and t-shirts/tank tops for day time and capris/jeans with light long sleeve shirts for night time excursions.

Is it still that hot out at night? :confused3

Oh my god is it hot.... We are from New England and used to 80-85 deg. I was there the third week in Sept. last year and it was 92, but felt like 99. (according to the weather channel)

Lived in tanks, shorts, and a couple pairs of sneakers (due to the afternoon showers).

We are heading back again Sept. 25- Oct. 1. This time I think in addition to sneakers I'll pack these watershoes/sneakers. They are mesh, very comfortable, and will dry quickly.

One year we got so drenched that I through my only pair of sneakers in the dryer so I could wear them the next day, but they shrank!! bad nikes!! I have heard if you put paper towel inside your sneakers they will dry more quickly.

Ok now how about the rain situation? Still a shower a day? or are showers more rare in October?

Hard to say, but there's ALWAYS a chance of showers in FL. I'd be prepared for showers, so maybe bring a rain jacket if you can fit it in your luggage. The only way to know if it's gonna rain the day(s) you're there, is to watch the weather the day of...and even that doesn't guarantee anything. The good thing about FL rains, they don't last long typically. :sunny:

**Edited to say that although it doesn't rain every day in October in FL, but it doesn't do that in the summer either (contrary to very popular belief). It hasn't rained in Orlando in 3 days, for example.

the last three years i have gone at the end of sept. anydate between the 24- 30.....

i pack, shorts, tanks , tops........the only place i have needed anything else was on the airplane ride to and from.
