Currently I have 2 room at Sports, it’s DH, DS (9), myself and our neighbor boy (12). We are taking advantage of the free dinning. Looks like I will have an extra $1000 I’m wondering if I should upgrade the dinning (going in August and might what A/C breaks lol) or switch to music Family Suite? We will take afternoon breaks for swimming and I will need to relax my bad hip.
What do you think?

You only have 4 people? Can the kids share a bed? You're paying a lot of $ for a 2nd room. If they can't share, You could upgrade to a moderate with a pull down bed for less than what 2 rooms at Sports cost. (And you'd have 2 queens vs 2 fulls and nicer pools with waterslides and a hot tub) So for one, I'd move to one room at a moderate and save even more money, and then I'd upgrade to the regular dining plan so that you can enjoy some nicer meals.

The kids have no problem sharing a bed, it is me that needs the space, if I need to lay down for a nap I don’t want to have to kick them out of the room, so 2 rooms, a family suite or a 1 bedroom is what we need
Maybe sticking to what rooms we have and upgrading our dining to get a break from the heat, plus we love Disney’s food lol

Is the music suite really that much bigger than a standard room at CBR? Those rooms are the largest mods there are. The main pool at CBR would be great for the kids. Not to mention the fact that the hot tubs would be great for your hip! Also, I am loving the fact that you have an extra $1000. I never hear anyone say “I have too much money”. :thumbsup2

Posted and saw what you said about napping. Guess my idea won’t help. The hot tub would however be great for you. It really helps DH’s back.

Don't rule out the option of just not spending that $1,000. If that amount isn't enough to upgrade to two rooms at a Moderate Resort, maybe just stick it in the bank and use it for a future trip.

I would stick with the room you have. You mentioned you have free Dining. The suites might not be available with this offer.
I would take into account the boys ages, 9 and 12. Do you think they will want to do sit down meals or spend more time enjoying the park?
If you think they will enjoy the sit down meals I would upgrade.
With the free Dining it's definitely (in my opinion) worth it.

Have you considered a cabin in FW? Would that automatically come with regular free dining? Just a August was about $240 for All Star and $350 for a FW cabin. You get a kitchen for breakfasts and evenings and FW has lots of activities for two boys. Plus you have the boat ride to the MK. Just something else to consider....

The cabins are a moderate so they would still be quick service dining.

What I would do (and again, this is just me) upgrade to ONE moderate room. If you need to spend the afternoon resting or taking a nap, send your husband with the kids to the pool. My kids can be entertained for HOURS at CBR. My kids get stir crazy just sitting in any hotel room, so they wouldn't feel like I was kicking them out.

I would stick with what you have and not get the dining plan. Nothing is free and when you get the "free dining" you are paying rack rate for the room. Just set that $1000 aside for food, you might be surprised that you don't spend it all.

I would upgrade the dining plan. Its going to be hot and we personally like 1 relaxing table service in the AC a per day.

I would absolutely do a Family Suite at All Star Music. When our son goes with us we NEED that extra room and extra bathroom. The suites are great because Mom and Dad have their own separate bedroom if they want to get some rest while the kids are up later. The kids can each have their own "bed" in the main room. The extra bathroom is priceless is my opinion. Personally I wouldn't do the dining plan - when my son was 9 and 12 he cared more about grabbing something quickly so he could do as many rides as possible. We also allowed him to go off on his own in the parks and would keep in touch via text message, meeting at certain spots just to check in a few times during the day. You might find that you can save more money scrapping free dining and getting a discount on a Family Suite. As my son hit the pre-teen years he absolutely did NOT want to eat at TS places because they took to long. He would humor us and agree to meet for a TS meal here and there but he ate as quickly as possible - there was no lingering over a nice meal for conversation with mom and dad.

We will spend more then $1000 on food, we love our Disney food. I always get the dinning plan, I am very happy to get the free dinning, it works well for our family, I know it don’t always work for some family’s but it does ours

Keep in mind that you aren't guaranteed connecting rooms, and you need an adult in the room with the boys.

Looks like it, yes, but you're also getting more than just one big room.

I'd go family suite! You get the bedroom and then the boys can sleep in the living room on the pullout couch, or pullout chair, or pullout ottoman! Since you say you'll need to take naps, just head on into the bedroom and the spouse and kids can hang out in the living room.

I would switch to the family suite to guarantee you’ll be together. There is no guarantee you’ll have connecting rooms with your current reservation.
